Hi all! I was just budgeting our next WDW trip and when I added the extra expenses, WOW, it really makes a diff. Here are only a few extra expenses that we have run into:

$300 CDN for film, development, new photo albums April 2002

$80 CDN trip cancel/medical insurance April 2002

$275 CDN trip cancel/medical insurance April 2001

$75 CDN groceries that I didn't expect to buy April 2001

What are some of your extras? S

Gas for the rental car

Parking fees. We went to Water Mania and was surpised to find out they charge $4 to park in thier parking lot. (no choice) But, then again, I was surpised to have to pay for parking at the Indy zoo, too. Our zoo does not charge to park so I guess I was spoiled. LOL (BTW our zoo here in Fort Wayne, IN, is much better;))

We always spend around $20 on toiletries we forgot, or medicine that we end up needing.

The film and film developing is a killer. I'm hoping to stick to our digital camera next time.

Paying someone to watch my pets and house.

At RPH they charged $25 a nite for a rollaway bed & $12 a day for valet parking.

At dollar rent a car they charged abou $6 a day extra (we were there for 15 days) because this year they bought a fleet of regular size caravans and when you reserve a minivan on their site it doeasn't say what size it is. We need the extended minivan because of our luggage for 15 days and 5 people (2 teenagers) . In the past they always had the grand caravan.

There is always something that comes up every year.

Switch part of our reservation to another resort cost us an extra $72 a night for 3 nights (ASMo to AKL S) and $112 per night for 3 night (ASMo to GF).

Sandra,

Your really need to look into a digital camera, we got one last year before our trip. Ours was about $700.00 cdn then we bought a card so I had room for about 150 pictures plus the Epson Photo printer ($130.00.) It is such a luxury because you can check your pictures right away and see if you got the shot and you don't have to take as many. Then at home you can just print the ones you really like and store the others on a CD. I am a scrapbooker and take a ton of pictures and I have found this to be the absolute best solution. The quality of the pictures coming off the Epson is amazing, the pictures are so clear and precise it and if you have a real special picture you want enlarged you can just email it to one of the online developers. i think in the last year I have probably paid for the camera in the cost of developing fees alone.

The expenses that I find that add up are the food costs on the driving trip. We stop for gas run in and get a couple of bags of chips some cold pops etc and suddenly it is an extra $10-20.00. Also we spent alot on movies for the tv/vcr in the car because even we wre getting bored listening to some of them, at home we have a DVd so we didn't have a big libraby to draw from. We always ended up spending alot on "neat" novelty items we can't buy in Canada, this year it was the extra large Ziploc bags from Target. I was packing everything into those bags, I can't wait to get some more on our next trip.

Here is what we do to make the FILM thing a little easier. Every week for several weeks before the trip, I got processing included film from Loblaws(Canada) 3 at a time (it makes them cheaper) while doing my groceries. It put about $20 more a week for groceries but it stopped us from buying other stuff at the grocery store that we didn't need.

I got at least 40 rolls but you might need less. It is Fuji film just like the Superia Film that is packaged by Fuji. (Same as Black's film for less money for those of you in Canada)

When we got back, I dropped off my film and it was ready in 2 days and it was already paid for because it was processing included.

Thank Goodness for this because we came back very broke and it was a waqy to get our pictures done right away...By the way, I did take 45 rolls in total on the trip...;)

june 2002 trip: Limited edition pins that I could not resist! It is amazing as to how fast those pins add up!

-DC :)

I took 17 rolls of film including a water camera. S

OMG! This is my first trip to WDW (Sept 22) and I only bought 3rolls of film!! Do I need a lot more than that? 40 rolls is a lot. Do you guys take that may pics when you go other places as well?

My son and I went to Disney for the first time last August. I had 6 of the one use cameras( each had 27 exposures) for out 8 day trip. That was not enough.:( Film on property was very expensive. I think it's better to have to much film than not enough.

Oh, don't forget the waterproof camera for the water parks.

WOW, only 3 rolls of film? We usually take atleast 9 rolls for our 8 day vacations. You might want to concider getting a couple of 4 packs and keeping the reciepts so you can return any unopened boxes. That would beat having to buy more if you run out at WDW. I think we paid around $4 per roll a few years ago when I forgot to put new film in the camera bag. (lesson learned. LOL)

I forgot another expense.............money to get the car/truck out of hock from the airport. It runs us about $56 to park for 8 days in Indy. Now that they have several parking lots and pricing structures it will probably be cheaper, though.

This is pushing it a bit ~ but last year we bought a new video camera specifically for the Disney trip. I include that as an extra expense since we would not have bought it if we weren't doing WDW. However, it is an expense that will last a long time. S

Tips! One time I forgot to figure in tips for the town car driver, the luggage people at the resort, the lady who gave me my massage, the driver of our Illuminations Cruise boat, etc. All that tipping really adds up!

Also, don't forget parking fees at all the theme parks, if you aren't staying on-site.

Last year we got good airfare out of Laguardia but we ended up paying $ 190. to park the car for a week! Plus the expense of boarding the two dogs. I always spend a ton of money at Walmart just before the trip!

film i ended up bying 4 more rolls for the camera i had and just my luck it takes the advantix which is always more exspensive.
also while on the cruise i started buying smoothies which i never drank before and those add up after awhile

*i wish i was back on the cruise we just got home yesterday:( *

Florida tap water is undrinkable..awful taste, bad aftertaste. Bottled water is necessary....and often overlooked as an added expense.:p
