Question regarding the deluxe hotel extra evening hours. Do you need a park reservation FOR THE PARK you are planning on attending the extra hours OR can that park be the one you hop to at 2:00?

My understanding is that you do not need to have a park reservation for the park with EEH only if you have park hopper tickets; otherwise, you need to have a park reservation.

Even with Park Hoppers, you need a reservation for that park unless you entered a different park already that day.

e.g.:
Park rez for Magic Kingdom, Evening Hours at Magic Kingdom = okay
Park rez for Animal Kingdom, enter Animal Kingdom, Evening Hours at Magic Kingdom = okay
Park rez for Animal Kingdom, never enter Animal Kingdom, Evening Hours at Magic Kingdom = not okay, even with PH ticket
No park rez at all, Evening Hours at Magic Kingdom = not okay, even with PH ticket

From the WDW website:

Know Before You Go

  • Guests will need valid admission and a theme park reservation for the same park on the same day to experience extended evening hours–or, Guests may experience extended evening hours if they have a ticket or annual pass with the Park Hopper option and first enter the park where they made their reservation.

thanks everyone. Looks like you have to have a park ressie for A park that day but you can hop to the park where you intend to EEH. appreciate the help.

Just to clarify, you also need to have at least tapped into the park you had the ressie for if it's not the park you are going to for EEH.

Does anyone know if you can hop to the park for the deluxe EEH after the technical closing of the park? For example, as deluxe guests, could we enter Epcot at 9:30 PM, or would we have to be in Epcot prior to 9 PM?

Yes, you can enter after the official park close.
