Are there any rental companies who don't charge for an extra driver? We're going in August with my sister and plan to get a minivan with myself and DBIL as drivers. We plan to go offsite to Universal and want the freedom to move independantly with the van if we want to. I know AAA waives the extra driver with Hertz but can't find a good rate with Hertz and it does not have a drop off on Disney property.

I think Hertz has a desk at the ShadesofGreen.

Many car rental agencies charge for an extra driver, particularly if the extra driver isn't a spouse.

You have to compare your Hertz rate with the rates of other agencies inclding any applicable extra driver fees in order to determine if the Hertz rate is good.

If you go to Mousesavers rental car page, she has some discounts codes that include a free extra driver (I know Alamo has one), http://www.mousesavers.com/rentalcar.html . You can sign up for National's Emerald Club for free there too, that would give you a free driver, but I believe that the extra driver has to be immediate family who lives at the same address. Both Alamo and National have sites on Disney property.

The Shades Of Green location is not a great one.

If you rent there you must RETURN the car there. It's a franchise and is playing by it's own rules! GOOD LUCK!

The OP wants to drop off at WDW. I guess they should indicate a drop off at SoG on their quote and see if it's allowed.

edited to say it looks like you're correct. I don't think you can use the SoG location unless you're using that location for pick up and drop off.

We get free extra driver with both Alamo and National. We belong to both clubs, so that could be the reason why.

Thanks everyone, I'll join both an see which gets me the best rate.
