Extra day at Hilton Head Island - hotel suggestions

Hi all! DH found out that we can leave for HHI a day earlier than expected so we're driving down early and will stay at a hotel for one night before checking into DHHIResort. Do you have any hotel suggestions for family of 4 (DH, DW, DS14, DD10)? We found Park Lane Hotel which looked good according to one website, but then upon further review - well, there were quite a few negative reviews. It's only for 1 night but....anyone know of a reason not to stay there? Thanks in advance!

We did priceline and got the HI express in Bluffton last year. It was the perfect option. If you want to spend more, just do a cash night at the DVC resort matching your room type if available.

There's a Hilton Garden Inn in Bluffton just before you cross the bridge onto the Island. It's in a nice location and not too far from the outlets if that's of any interest to you.

We've stayed at the Hampton Inn on HHI as well as Sun City numerous times and have been pleased each time.

Can't you just book another night at HHI? is it full?

We are at days inn which is $65 a night with AAA. We wanted to add another night at HH and it was available for $520. I read a lot of reviews and all of them were not good but we won't get to HH till 5pm so for just over 16 hours it will do.

We don't have the extra points right now and to purchase it with the discount was upwards of $500. Not necessarily ideal, so we're just "shopping around" for another place for an overnight. Thanks for all the great suggestions everyone!

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn on the island that is near Coligny probably 2-3 times over the last 5 years to round out our Disney HHI stay. I am not sure of the rates, we use "free nights" that my husband accumulates during the year for his job. It is in a nice area right on the beach with a lot of shops and restaurants nearby. There is a decent pool although the hotel itself seems to be showing its age. We weren't able to get in there the nights we wanted this year so we are staying at another hotel he had free nights at, but I don't recall the name of it right now. We have also done a night or two in Savannah--only about an hour away and lots to see.
