Extra bed/cot at DVC rooms?

I was talking with a new Disney friend recently and she mentioned that I may be able to get a cot delivered to a studio room at a DVC resort. Is that true? That seems to be the best way for my family of 5 to get a good room and fit all of us ... without breaking the bank. I'm thinking something like Boardwalk or OKW.

Are one of the kids 2 or under? Otherwise, you won't be able to book a studio that doesn't sleep 5. If the studio does sleep 5, it will have queen bed, sofa bed, and daybed/pull down bed already

Some rooms at Moderate resorts have room for 5 with two queens and a Murphy bed. Port Orleans Riverside has these rooms in their Alligator Bayou section.

Also note, that if you book via Disney and violate the occupancy, they will make you move and pay the difference. If you rent or borrow DVC points to make the booking, you will be in violation of the contract with the owner, who will also be in violation of THEIR contract with Disney as a result of your actions.

In summary: Don't.

Why not just book a DVC studio that sleeps 5? GF, Poly, BW & VWL have the pull down bed plus queen bed & sofa bed.
The above is correct that DVC does not allow or provide cots in a studio.

Also, not all DVC studios have the Murphy beds. Some are just a queen and a sofa bed.

We always took an airbed to our DVC studios. It fit fine and was easy to pack along with a battery operated pump. In fact we took that twin sized airbed on every trip, including the values. For sure no cots or rollaways at the DVC's.

This is fine if you are sleeping the number of users the room is intended for, like using an airbed in a Kidani studio for 4 (2 in bed, 1 on sofa bed, 1 on floor), because one of your kids sleeps like an eggbeater.

But OKW does not sleep 5, so putting an airbed in to sleep 5 is NOT OK. Occupancy for an OKW studio is 4.

I had four people, my kids were a girl and a boy that didn't want to sleep together . I'm assuming the OP has a kid under 3. My point was that a twin airbed fits in a DVC studio.

I'm just assuming the OP has a child under 3.

No, that is not the case, unfortunately. I've discovered and continue to see evidence that Disney World is built for a family of 4. 3 kids??? Either pay up or squeeze in tight.

but isn't the entire hotel industry built for families of four? There are some exceptions (and Disney is one of them as all but about 4 properties have options for a 5th person) but by and large 4 is the industry standard. That said, most DVC rooms will allow a fifth person if booked with points, but they will not provide linens.

Not just the hotels. Cars are built for 4. Restaurant booths and table are made for 4. Cruise ship rooms typically max out at 4. It's everywhere....including Disney.

my husband is 6'7", cars, restaurant booths, clothes, chairs, airplanes etc are not built for people his size. More people= more room. I guess I don't understand the mentality that the world should be built for your choice in family size. The average american family is 3.14. That is what profit making companies make their business decisions based on making money. Disney actually offers more choices that many other hotels/resorts.
What about the family of 2. Aren't they paying a premium for their room that sleeps four? Shouldn't Disney make rooms that only hold 2 so I am not wasting my money? or singles?

Look at it another way.

A room that sleeps 5 at Alligator Bayou POR or at Caribbean Beach costs exactly the same for my family of 4 as it does your family of 5. So you're getting more value from the same room!

Hey, thanks to everyone for all the input and information! Well, to almost everyone.... I'd like to try to see if it's even possible/probable to rent points for highly desired places like GF and Poly. Since it seems there's a lot of talk of Free Dining going away for a while (which would be nice), DVC seems to be the way to go as Plan B.

Actually its much better at WDW than it used to be. When we began going families of five could stay at the deluxes and POR. Since then they have added Family Suites at All Star Music built Art of Animation which is pretty much dedicated to suites that hold six and converted most of CBR to hold families of five. That's thousands of rooms converted or built to hold families of five or six in the last decade. Plus the addition of new DVC resorts.

Iny opinion you do have choices and quite a few of them. Not at every resort but then pretty much none of us will have choices at every resort. Budget, family size and other restrictions limit every one of us on where we can stay.
