What is the extra adult charge at disney hotels? Does it vary by resort? I was just fooling around with the reservation system and it seems to be an additional $25 a night at AKL and only $5 at ASMU. Does this sound right?

Disney charges an "additional adult charge" for more than 2 adults in a room ~ the last time this happened to us it was about $15 ~ so that sounds right for a deluxe. ;)

I know they charge for an additional adult..but honestly..they don't follow you to your room and see who is staying in there.
See what I mean? If two adults check in...who gonna follow and see if another is in there with them? I know people who stayed at Caribbean last year and she had her teenage daughter and friend with her. They just left one of the names off of the reservation. I know...before the Disney police come...it's not policy...but it can be done. $25.00 seems a little much to me for an extra adult in the room when there is adequate bedding in there for them. They are just ripping you off.

I wouldn't feel comfortable sneaking an extra person in. I guess I'm not that dishonest.

....and sometimes if you are honest and have their name on the reservation they will waive the fee at check in. And the person still gets to have a resort key/ID.

I agree gepetto. Last May my DD & her friend were staying only 3 of the 8 days I was there. They waived DD's friend....the computer couldn't handle the split.

Extra adult fees:
$25 for deluxe, also at Swan & Dolphin
$15 for moderate
$10 for value
Less at Fort Wilderness, but I'm not sure what -- maybe $3 or $5

Even if we felt okay about not registering our extra "adult" (our oldest child), we wouldn't b/c we do e-night and need him to have a resort i.d. Lately, Disney asks the kids' birthdays when you book rooms. They used to only ask ages, and I'll admit that last year I did not say he's 17 but will turn 18 before we arrive -- I just said he's 17.

We're moving to two rooms at the All Stars this year b/c the extra $25 a night for my oldest son added $200 to the bill at a deluxe.

I stayed at the Polynesian this past February. A couple we know was in the area while we were there. Since I wanted them to have a parking pass, I went to the front desk the day they arrived to report them and pay the 25.00 per person. They gave me the parking pass, then told me not to worry about the charge. They even gave me 2 key cards for them to use!! I was tempted to not report them, but the parking pass was important for them.
So, I think honesty is the best policy...I think they appeciate it, that's why we got them 2 free night at the Polynesian!

Hope that helps!

DD turns 18 1 week before we arrive and we are paying $25/night at BC for her.
