My Mom and I will be visiting this October, staying at AKL. Rather than doing MNSSHP (we've already done) at $100 a piece, we decided to put the money we would have spent on tickets to a different activity.

If you had around $100/person to spend on something extra, what would you do? Any tours near that price point that have good reviews? Or maybe a visit to one of the spas?

I would consider seeing Cirque de Soleil at Disney Springs if you haven't already seen in. It is amazing and they just added some new stuff to it.

We've done the pirates and pals cruise and while it was fun I don't think we would do it again. The first half of the event is in a tiny conference room where you meet hook and smee and sign autographs which is cool, but it was SOOOOO hot in there when we went all the chocolate coins they give you were all melted. And the snacks were just like fruit and bagged chips and stuff. The actual cruise was a ton of fun on the boat singing pirates songs and watching wishes from the lake. Anyways it was a great try and see how it is one time thing, lol. There are the desert parties which look like a ton of fun, but if you are looking for tours Magic Kingdom has Keys to the Kingdom tour which is a few hours in the AM and it takes you through CM only places in MK (like the tunnels!) and I have heard really good reviews for this...when my toddler gets old enough that he can stay at 1 of the kids club places I want to do this tour...Also Epcot has a tour that shows you basically was Epcot was suppose to be and it seems really cool as well. And then finally Animal Kingdom has a tour that takes you backstage with CM and see how they take care of all those animals that are housed at Animal Kingdom which seems really cool as well.

With all those choices I think my first pick would be Keys to Our Kingdom tour. You also get lunch and Columbia House Harbor as well when the tour is finished. I think that would definitely be my top choice!

I second going on one of the tours. Read the descriptions and pick the one that resonates with your Disney interests. We have done a couple of them and enjoyed the experience. I see you are staying at the AKL. You might consider either the Wild Africa Trek or the Backstage Tales at AK. We did the precursor to the Backstage Tales and enjoyed it.

And do not feel that you need to buy front and center tickets. Setting farther back is fine, the view from pretty much everywhere in the theater is great!

Cirque Du Soleil La Nouba . .. . awesome!

Another vote for La Nouba. It is a great show, have seen it 4 times now. And as said about the seating, actually Cat 2 and 3 seating is preferred there, and all Cirque shows. Cat 1 and Front and Center and some even newer cat which is even more expensive, all give you worse seating.

If you haven't done any, check out the tours. If you like backstage and don't mind some of the magic revealed, keys to the kingdom is an excellent choice and in your budget. It can be hard to get in so call asap if your going to do it. You could change your mind closer for a refund, just remember disney refunds take about 10 days to see the money again.

If your at the point you've seen a ton and starting to look for something different, then I suggest leaving the money in your pocket and be on the look out for something you didn't know about or unexpected while on your trip. Resort hop with some extra shopping. Get that thing you keep saying one year your going to just buy it. rent a boat on bay lake and float past the resorts and magic kingdom. Basically have a budget for something that your really in the mood for. Who knows, you might even venture away from property and maybe see an interesting area or do something non-disney and grab a meal while on your excursion. Get a air boat ride around the marshland nearby.9

somethign interesting is ABD added a backstage magic to orlando this year, check out the list of destinations not in disney for an idea of some interesting won't regret it things to visit on your own.

AKL offers a special safari just for guests, I can't remember the cost, I'm pretty sure it was more than $100 but way worth it.

If they are still doing it I would look at Club Villain.

We are skipping the party this year too I am hoping to add club villain if extended, animal kingdom trek, HHR and some food and wine events. We have already seen cirque twice thought.

Golden Circle is the other newer category. I agree that sitting farther back in the theater is better. I've sat in front and center seating, cat 3 seating off to the side, and cat 2 seating about halfway up the back center section. The cat 2 seats were the best. You could see all the action in the aisle that is actually behind the people with the more expensive seats. Also, they do some acts that are almost directly overhead of the more expensive seats that are uncomfortable to watch when you're sitting under them. The cat 3 seating was at about a 45 degree angle to the stage, and while we could see everything, the view wasn't as good as the cat 2 seats.
