Anyone have any external battery backup options for iPhone 5, 6 and 6s to use while in the parks at Disney?Want it to be small enough to carry without much added weight to my purse but strong enough to charge more than one device without needing the unit to be charged.

I have an Anker (bought on Amazon). It's the size of a large lipstick container. Fits in my pocket and not bulky at all. Works great.

I also bought a Jackery from Amazon due to advice I received on the Dis boards. It's not too heavy and I can get about three charges from it.

Buy one that doesn't require batteries, so many available. Jackery is a good one.

If you have an iPhone, try the Low Battery Mode even when Battery is not low.
It does an incredible job at conserving power; even when in use.

Don't forget there's free wifi at the parks, so you could in theory go on airplane mode and use messaging or a chat app to communicate with each other, which will extend your battery a bit more.

Most "Airplane" modes I have seen shut of ALL wireless, this includes Cell, WiFi, BlueTooth and NFC. So I don't know how much that will help. Of course your phone may be different or allow other options.

That being said, I have a RAVPower http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MQSMEEE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage
It has 2 USB ports. One for 2.1A and 1 for 2.4A. It claims to charge an iPad from Empty to full. It's a little less than a pound, and slightly larger than a deck of cards, but I have had mine for about 9 months and use it a lot. The downside is it takes a long time to recharge the battery pack, but the upside is that I can charge my phone (LG G3) multiple times as well as my DD's LG G3 multiple times without recharging the battery pack. I will go DAYS without charging the RAVPower even after using it several times. When on vacation though (Last one was at Dollywood in TN.) I would charge the RAVPower from the wall, and have my phone plugged into the RAVPower (pass through) so both will get charged.

I bought mine at $40.00 and it was an awesome deal. Now for this post I researched it and amazon now has it at $30.00 (Okay, $29.99) and it's prime eligible. Plus it has an LED light that can be used for a flashlight. Definitely worth it.

That is true for the iPhone - it shuts off everything by default. However you can manually turn on wifi and bluetooth (don't know about nfc as I've never tried) at which point you should be good to go once you connect to the Disney wifi.

Learn something new every day. I never tried to turn it back on after enabling Airplane mode. Seems to me it would be easier to just have "Disable Cellular" button. :)

This is the one I got. Tried it out and it holds about 2 charges. All told that's 3 if my phone is charged too. I got mine for $10, you can always try another color to get a better deal. And it has a flashlight! Not that I really needed it, but could be a handy extra feature. You know, for when I need to use it in Pirates so I can reset the flash on my camera. :teeth:

Must chime in with recommendation for the Jackery. We used them at Disney with iPhone 5 and they lasted more than one days charge each time

For what it's worth, there is a toggle switch for Cellular Data under 'Cellular' in the settings.

I use the Anker brand available thru amazon. I used it last year during our trip to charge both my phone and DW's. I also use it during the work day to extend my battery as needed. I charged it once during the trip last year and we were charging two phones daily. My sister then purchased one and loves hers also. She used hers for the week at Disney and never charged it.
