Is it possible to get an extention on the final payment due date of your resort reservation without having to cancel the entire reservation? Is there a grace period that is given, or is the reservation cancelled on the final payment due date?

I believe there's a small grace period before they'll cancel it. You can always contact them and explain the situation, and if they're able to help you by extending the deadline they will.

It depends on how you made the booking. If it was directly with Disney, then they are known to give a bit of a grace period. If it was thru a 3rd party or travel agent, then you are probably out of luck.

I called two years ago and asked and was told that it won't cancel until 30 days. Not sure if that still applies, I would definitley call and ask

Travel agents have leverage and often can get final payment dates extended. In fact, some agents give their clients earlier final payment dates than what it actually is just to ensure the payment is in on time. Also gives the agent some leeway in case the client needs an extension. But if you booked through Orbitz or Expedia, etc, then you may be SOL.

Even if someone confirms they don't cancel until 30 days out, you'll still want to call and have them note and approve your extension. They'll work with you as long as you keep in touch.

Definitely, if through Disney! They are usually great about it:) We requested, and were quickly given, an extension on last year's trip after several unexpected expenses. I've also requested them for friends who I've booked trips for...have not had a problem with it.

Awesome to hear!!! I can relax alittle now. I was starting to get stressed out, just the thought of maybe having to cancel this year. Yes, i booked myself directly on the Disney site. That is what my problem is, i had some unexpected expenses the last few months.

I just went through this two weeks ago! I needed 1 week longer. I called and they made a note, they say they can't guarantee anything. I asked the girl realistically if they would cancel, she said no.

When does the 45 day window change to 30 days? I've seen that it's in 2016, but does that mean BOOKED in 2016 or for TRAVEL in 2016?

I just called an spoke to someone and they stated that they do not do extentions and that i can keep checking the site to see if my account is still there... :( :( Not feeling the magic today....

I would call back and ask to speak to a manger or something

They won't call it an extension, they say they will make a note. They won't put a guarantee. Ask to put a note and then ask them realistically how long you should have, Different CM may have a better answer.

Those sites don't book packages. The rooms they book involve either paying it all up front at the time of booking OR paying at the hotel.

Did you ever call back and have better luck?? I agree with PP...speak to someone else. Tell them your situation, that you need one more week, and I cannot see them being so dismissive. Good luck!!

I've had to postpone payment on a couple of trips I had. The first time I had booked directly through Disney. I called and spoke with Guest Services and they told me that they since I had a decent deposit down, that they would make a note in my file and that it would be okay. I think I paid three weeks prior to the trip. This past trip from August, I booked through a Disney agent and they actually let me make my final, final payment a week prior. If someone gives you a hard time, keep calling back until you get someone who can help you.
