extened stay at disneyworld

I want to stay at Disneyworld for 12 nights Nov-Dec of this year.
My home resort has openings for a 2 bdrm for the first 6 nights then I would have to move to another resort. Should I book my 6 nights now and once my 7 month window opens then book the other 6 nights or wait until I can book all 12 nights at once. Is there a problem with booking 2 different resorts over a 12 night stay?

Do you really want to stay at your home resort? If so, book the 6 nights and waitlist. If you don't care...book the 6 nights and when you can book the others try to do that.

There really isn't any problem with booking 12 nights in a row, unless you're right at the start of the booking period and then you can only book 7 nights at once.

If you are talking about the last week of Nov and the first week of Dec you might want to consider making a reservation for the whole 12 days at your home resort and then changing whatever part you want at the 7 month mark. That way you are sure of having something in case you can't get what you want at the 7 month mark. You can then waitlist for that part of the reservation. The Thanksgiving period and the first week of Dec are very busy DVC weeks. If you can't get all the days now I would take what I could get and waitlist for the rest at my home resort. I think having 2 different resorts for a 12 week stay would be great. We have done it for a 7 day stay and it worked out quite well.

Your question is ambiguous in that I'm not sure if your intent is to stay in the same resort for 12 nights or that you intentionally want to split your stay between two resorts. If your intention is to stay at your home resort for 12 nights I would book as many nights as possible at the home resort, waitlist the rest and book the balance where available just in case the waitlist fails to come through. If your intention is to book more than one resort the only problem, other than the hassle of packing, unpacking, repacking, unpacking, is that you will be limited in the number of waitlists you can have since each reservation is viewed as a separate reservation.

It sounds like your home resort only has availability for the first part of your stay? I too would book those six days and then waitlist the last 6 days. Then at 7 months you can see if you can get all 12 nights at a single resort or hopefully book the last 6 at one other resort so you only have to do one move. If you do that you could continue to keep your original waitlist at your home resort to try and stay there the whole trip - if that's your preferred thing to do.

I would definitely book what you can now, as availability will become even more limited as we get closer to the travel time.

At the 7 month mark, call and see what else you can add to what you have booked at some of the other resorts.

Just FYI lots of us always book our home resorts at 11 months out and then if we want to switch do it at the 7 month mark so we are sure we have a place to stay.

So as others have said I would book the 6 nights you can now and waitlist the other 6 AND at the 7 month mark see if you can book all 12 somewhere else OR if your intention is to split the stay then try to book the last 6 somewhere else.
