The area in red is too many park days in a row.
The area in blue is too many pool days in a row.

I think you should mix and match a little more!

We go every year and we're always looking for something different to try. How about adding in the Hoop-de-doo revue or the Luau. How about Disney Quest...your DS will love it and you'll probably spend the whole day there. How about tickets to Cirque? There are other Orlando things to do too. We loved the Titanic exhibit, Arabian Nights, Medieval Times, etc...We're looking for something new to try this year and we're thinking about the Dixie Stampede....still need one more all day thing to do which is non-disney...having trouble with that one.

Happy planning!

A couple of suggestions for a non-Disney day:

Cypress Gardens - just reopened and has a thrill ride area now

Busch Gardens - Tampa. Quite a ride, but could be a nice different diversion.

Kennedy Space Center - Cape Canaveral, FL. Again a bit of a ride, but worth it. If you were to go on a Thursday, Saturday or Sunday you could even think of going to Cocoa Beach and watch the Magic or Wonder sail.

I know I am stating the obvious, but prepare for afternoon thunderstorms. Not so much an issue for the parks days, but definitely for the water park and pool days.

Just curious, but why jump from hotel to hotel? Am I reading yout itinerary correctly? :confused3

yes youre reading correctly
we first had Riverside booked (cash) 3nights (incl 1st wknd) before our VWL stay for 6nights
I wanted to try Beach Club Villas - going in summer - want to try Stormalong Bay
DS still wants to go to Wilderness Lodge

yesterday I added on the 5nights at Pop because I have 3more vacation days and figured why not add them at the beginning of our vacation?

Our schedule:

July 23rd - arrive at MCo, go to WDW, eat ESPN WINGS!!, and then do what feels right
July 24th - get up, eat, get on first park that arrive at bus stop
and then do what feels right
July 25th - get up and wing it, depending on how we feel
July 26th - ANNIVERSARY - get up, kiss wife BIG TIME, tell her how much I love her, have fun where ever, have a great dinner ARTIST POINT
July 27th - wing it
....

You get the idea, we usually just do whatever feels right or what my 5 yr old son wants to do that day. Special days include special meals. This trip is our 19th Aniiv and my son's 6th b-day. So ArtistPt for WIFE, Chef's Mickey for my son's b-day. Bistro or Jiko for my meal of choice.

With extended trip even in heavy travel times, you can "wing it" most days and still see everything you want to see.

Go and have fun. If you have small children along, allow them to plan one of your days and you will find the real MAGIC of WDW through their eyes.

I agree... we've done short trips where we had to MEGA plan ahead of time to do everything we wanted, make PS's just right, etc.
Then we had the 12 day trip for Thanksgiving-Dec in 2003 and we didn't follow a "plan"- we "winged" it the majority of the time and actually enjoyed it a lot more! I wish we could always do 12+ day trips. LOL

We are doing a long trip ( for us anyway :) ) from 7/27-8/6. The only thing we have definitely planned so far is to have dinner at the California Grill for my daughter's 13th birthday. I agree with one of the responses regarding afternoon thunderstorms and planned pool days. We went in July 2 years ago and there was a thunderstorm every afternoon. As we get closer to the summer months I'll make some PSs -it's nice to get out of the heat for a sit down meal. Other than that, we're just going to enjoy being together in one of our favorite places :)
