My family is staying at ASM for the first time in October, and we have a question about extended hours. We were told that Resort guests were able to enter certain parks an hour earlier, and stay later. We were wondering if you could do both on the same day. Could we go early, take the kids back for a rest and swim in the afternoon, and then stay later that evening?

There are extra magic hours in the morning and the evening but it varies by the day and the park. For instance one day you might get to enter MK one hour early but there is no park open late. Each week, each park is open early one morning and open late one evening but it's never the same park open in the morning and the evening.

Hope this makes sense. Also remember that unless your tickets are park hoppers you won't be able to go to an early morning park and then hop to another park for the rest of the day. Same with the late evening hours - you can't spend the day at one park and then go to the late opening park unless you can park hop.

Hi there,

Just a word of caution about the "extra" hours--check the Extra Magic Hours Schedule, which you can pick up at your resort.

Not all attractions are operating, and not all food service locations are open. For example, we went to eat dinner at 5:30 p.m. and I went to two of my favourite "fast" food places to eat, one being Pinocchio Village Haus. I love their turkey sandwiches and chicken salads. Closed. Upon inquiring, I found out that they were one (of many) food service stations that closed on extra hours time. The only places that were open the night that we were there were Cinderella's Royal Table, Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe, Liberty Tree Tavern and Pecos Bill Cafe. You can imagine how many folks were in Ray's.....

It's a great feature, but make sure that you check the schedule and go see any attractions that may close during the extra hours - that is, if they are worth it to you.

thanks to both of you. Now how do I get the count down on my posts? It would be a nice reminder of how close I am to returning. :hourglass

digskat;

That's an easy one! Just go to the technical board--they have a thread there that will walk you through the steps.

Enjoy! :flower:

Hi...We just got back yesterday. We had basic tickets, no park hopping. We often went first thing to a park, stayed until early afternoon and went back to FW, and returned after an early supper. The Extra Magic Hours change every week, so get the list from your resort. I had checked the WDW site and Unofficial Guide site before we left, but all hours (regular and extra) were changed once we got there. We did find that the parks that had the extra hours at night were busier. Just do a bit of checking first. We found that for us it was better to get to the parks first thing (which always ended up to be about 15 min after opening time, but this way the first wave of crowds are through the gate) and get to the stuff we really liked by 11:00. We also found the Magic Kingdom to be busiest on the days there was a Spectromagic parade. A CM said that happens this time of year since the parade only runs a couple times a week, so those afternoons/evenings are packed.

The only thing about the extra hours is that certain area's are ropped off and you cant go to. The only extra hours we thought, why bother were the ones in Animal Kingdom, the only area open late was Dinoland. Not even Camp Mickey and Minnie. However we did MK and that was cool. We were basically there by ourselves!

Thanks for the responses we'd probably use the EMH for MK or EPCOT anyway, we managed to do all we wanted at AK by 3pm when we went in Nov :earboy2:
