Extended Experience at TL's Shark Reef?

We have thoroughly enjoyed snorkeling at the Shark Reef at Typhoon Lagoon on previous trips. I've read about an "extended experience" in which you can rent a supplied-air snorkeling system to use for "in depth exploration" of the reef. If you've done this, I'd appreciate any details you can offer in terms of the experience, cost, timing, reservations, etc.. Thanks for any information you can offer.

My son and his best friend (both 18) went to TL for a day on our recent graduation celebration trip to WDW. (This was during the first week in June.) They said that this extended experience in Shark Reef was one of the highlights of their trip. The cost was $20 each, and they said that this covered their time "until the air ran out," which turned out to be about 25 minutes for each of them. They were the only people in the SAS side of the reef and loved the experience. They said the attendants spent lots of time showing them how to operate the mini-tank and giving them tips on what to look for. They didn't need reservations. They just went over to the window at the Shark Reef area and signed up when they got to Typhoon Lagoon. (And because they are teenagers, they didn't get there at park opening. LOL.)

Great tip. I have bonus tickets for water parks, etc. I am definitely choosing TL just for the Shark Reef and now knowing about the extending experience. Well worth $20.
