Extend package or book room only for split stay?

Hi

Right now, I am booked from 11/15 through 11/25 at POR with free dining. The tentative plan for the moment is to check out on 11/25 and check in the same day at AoA (possibly somewhere else if there's a room only discount significant enough) and stay as a room only for two nights.

(We're doing this because the flight costs on 11/25, being the sunday after thanksgiving, are exorbitant, and they significantly decrease on 11/27.)

Anyway, earlier, I was talking with a CM about this and she asked me why I didn't just extend the package instead, so the meals would be included. She ran the total cost and it'd be about $600 more to do that.

Does anyone have a strong opinion about this? Should I do it?

If we stayed at AoA in a Little Mermaid room, it'd be about $235 for two nights, and then whatever we ate or spent would be out of pocket.

I doubt we'll eat $400 worth of food, but I just don't know for certain. I know the food at Disney is pretty expensive, and after spending ten days eating whatever we want, it may be difficult to not just get whatever we want, without wondering what our budget is.

If it was you, what would you do? TIA. :goodvibes

The rooms are a bit smaller at AoA, so after 10 days at POR you may feel a bit cramped? And miss some of the mod. amenities.
And avoid the hassle of moving for just 2 days. Continuing your DDP pkg.

On the other hand, I saw pics of the AoA pool, and resort areas, and it looks pretty cool, and after 10 days of the DDP feeding frenzy, you may be sick of eating, lol And you can just eat at CS places when you want, without the scheduling of ADRs to make.

I'm no help, sorry :( :rotfl:

Unless your really want to try AoA, I would extend your current free dining reservation and stay at POR the whole time. Just my preference, but I would prefer to stay put an extra 2 nights rather than pack up and move for such a short time prior to leaving.

Thanks for the replies. I believe you're right, and I should stay where I am and extend the dining.

(Honey, I won't get sick of eating LOL!!!)

But anyway, I went through the menus and looked at the prices of the counter service meals and for four of us, we'd still be spending around $75 for each meal, and that's without "frills" like desserts and such.

Every bottle of water, every bag of chips, ice cream bar, whatever we would want or need would cost extra, and I think even with it only being two days, we'd probably get pretty close to $400 on food out of pocket. Yikes. I know Disney's prices are higher than what we'd pay at home for the same things, but it's part of being there, and I'm not complaining. But I think I'm better off just going with the package.

I would really love to stay at AoA though.. maybe some other time.
