Express your love for Disney-MGM Studios HERE

Disney MGM Studios has always held a special place in my heart for many reasons.

First and foremost, I am a movie and TV buff. I love learning more abnout the film making process, and I love attractions that are themed around the process like Sounds Dangerous and the Indy Stunt Show.

I also love attractions that put you inside a movie or show. Star Wars and the Muppet Show, in particular, were things I loved as a kid, and riding Star Tours and entering the actual Muppet Theater for Muppetvision 3D are not only wonderfully detailed and fun experiences, they take me back to my childhood in a way that only Walt Disney could ever have imagined. When I strap myself into the Starspeeder 3000 or put on those 3D goggles, all the cares and worries of adulthood instantly melt away and I become 10 years old for a few minutes.

I also love history, and MGMs layout, celebrating the so-called Golden Age of Hollywood, takes me back to a time long before I was born and lets me imagine walking down the real Sunset Blvd. or past the real Hollywood and Vine in the 1920s. The Great Movie Ride and the Hollywood Tower Hotel both offer glimpses not only into the real past, but into the past on film, as well. Where else in the world can you be menaced by the Wicked Witch of the East ans serronaded by Munchkins? Where else can you experience the awe and majesty that is the Twilight Zone first hand and live to tell the tale?

And MGM is also the first of the Disney parks that I visited, back in 1990 on my first trip to WDW. I remember the wonder and the enchantment I felt that day as I walked into the park. It was late August, and the park was nearly empty because the off season had just begun as kids across the country were preparing to return to school, and every attraction was a walk-on. I sometimes look at the pictures I shot that day and remember the subtle differences between the way the park was then and the way it is now, but this picture holds a lot of meaning for me - it was the first picture I ever shot at WDW:
