We are heading to Orlando, after returning to Port Everglades. I have us booked on the Brightline, but what are the odds we could make a 9:35am flight if we did express walk off? Thanks for any helpful thoughts!

I don't know the odds, but, even with the fairly close proximity of the airport in PE I wouldn't do it.

Port Everglades to MCO is about 200 miles. And you need ti get to the airport at least 90 minutes ahead of your flight. Impossible.

no chance. I think it takes 3 hrs roughly to get from Ft Lauderdale to Orlando on brightline. Then you got to go through security which depending on the day can take a while (even with precheck, then take the shuttle to the terminal). If you have a 935 flight, you'll probably be 2 hrs late as best case scenario.

You would have to be off the boat at 5am to have a realistic chance (which they dont do)

I'm confused, too. Are you talking about switching from a Brightline to MCO and instead taking a 9:35am flight from FLL? Because flying out at 9:35 from FLL would make me uncomfortable but it's probably fine. Trying to get to MCO in that timeframe requires a flux capacitor.

We do express walkoff every cruise from port Canaveral and drive straight to Disney. We might be able to make a Disney resort by 9:30, but zero chance you could make it to the orlando airport from port Everglades by 9:30.

I've never cruised from Everglades,.is there any shot of making the train? 920 might be early enough to watch your plane take off.

Are you thinking of flying from FLL. Check with your airline regarding deadlines for checking luggage.

I read it as that - investigating the possibility of flying to MCO (on a 9:35 flight) instead of taking Brightline (at whatever time) to MCO.

No way making the Brightline at 6:20. FLL is very close though. I'd still push back boarding until 10:30 or so in order to get through customs/line at the port and check in/security at the airport

Less than zero. It's unlikely the ship would even be cleared for debarkation at 6:20.

Check your airlines policies. For example Frontiers deadline for checking luggage is 1 hour before departure. Boarding stops 15 minutes prior to departure

Deadline to check luggage is computer enforced. It doesn't matter when you get in line.

I have only sailed into Port Everglades once. November 2024. Did “express walkoff”. Concierge gets to go first. There was an issue with the ship not getting cleared until around 8am. I was maybe 4th in line for a taxi. Arrived at FLL at 8:25. I remember because my flight was at 12:45 and I couldn’t check in until 4 hours before the flight. So I had to wait 20 minutes.

That’s just one “for instance”. But I’m not sure arriving at 8:25 would have allowed you to make that 9:35 flight.

That said, it would not be impossible if the ship cleared early and you were near first in the walk off line like I was. Are you staying in Orlando? Or catching another flight?

That's why I follow "rule #1" - Always quote OP when replying.

Rental car is your best option. You'll go directly to WDW. You'll avoid the.MCO WDW leg. You'll avoid the uncertainty of making the flight.

You want to gamble. Book the SW flight before travel credits come with an expiration date. Cancel and get credits if you don't clear port early enough or have security issues. I guess Brightline is plan B.

JMO but a lot of effort for a plan with a relatively low likelihood of success.

Sounds like material for videos. Bragging rights.


Edited to add It sounds like the OP wants to take the early flight FLL TO MCO to maximize WDW day.

Stars align perfectly he'll get to Disney an hour or 2 sooner then driving.

I will never understand wanting to end a relaxing cruise vacation with making yourself stressed trying to make early flights/trains/etc.
