Express Transportation ending already - That stinks!

I think that this is one of the major reasons that the express transportation just didn't stick. We are and always have been park-hoppers. But, we almost never go park to park - it's park, resort, park and once in a while at night it might be park to park.
Yep. I think this is where the fault in the service is stuck and may never get over. I think you are the more typical hopper and I, and other users of the Express Bus, are not.

Never once waited half an hour to catch it. I know how to plan my schedule to get to the bus stop when it's time to catch the bus. Not hard.

So then, again, another catch. To not wait, you have to microplan. Wouldn't make sense to the majority of park goers.

I do have to wonder, why do you care? The service is something you never planned to buy. It's no longer offered. So really, why do you care?

I don't particularily. But your math made no sense. Why do you care about defending it so much? I mean, you admit that it isn't attractive to enough people and that's pretty much what I was saying to begin with.

Sure. But that's still not $4/day. That's $4 per person a day, so $16 for 4 people.

That said, I can see how it would be attractive to you- you would clearly get your money's worth. But 7 days is probably longer than the average trip, and I have a hard time believing that 3 parks a day is common. For the system to stick around, a lot of people would have to use it, and I think your family is part of a very small minority of parkgoers.

I appreciate the civil discussion. I just like to maximize our visit. When spending $6000+ for a Disney vacation I don't see the cost of a bottle of water ($4 in the parks) per person daily a huge game changer. I recognize that others spend much less and do Disney much differently than we do. Our kids are all adults as well, no small children to make hopping more problematic.

Our approach is to visit am EMH without FP+, move on to a less crowded park at mid-day for our FP+ rides, then head over to a third park often for fireworks/dinner...

I do think you underestimate the time saved as the majority of time is saved by knowing the precise departure time of the express bus (it is a scheduled departure) as opposed to potentially waiting 10+ minutes for regular bus transportation outside the park. Then there is the walk out of each park to reach bus depots.

All moot at this time as the service will no longer exist after next week.

I never did any math. I suck at it so you can be sure, I never offered any up. I only gave the price.

Oh, and I do defend it because while I can admit that the service as it was wasn't attractive to enough people (in my opinion, I don't have facts to back that up) I hope they have something else to replace it, either with smaller vehicles, different price point, combo of the 2. I loved the service, as did those to do hop park to park. We are still out here.

I honestly do have to wonder, why do you care? The service is something you never planned to buy. You saw no value in it. It's no longer offered.
Disney dodged the bullet this week because if you were here, the "ink isn't dry on their Hospitality diploma" managers at Guest Relations would be getting a verbal whooping. Uhh, maybe you should come down.

I can completely understand the value of a scheduled departure. And I like your strategy. I think one of the reasons I don't see the attraction of it is that I don't do EMH. I also don't run a precise schedule- I hop a lot, but it's not planned enough to remember a bus schedule!

It could also be that I've only been in the summer, and it was pretty rare that I could hop from park to park for heat reasons. I actually ended up hopping mostly because after a swim, it was just as much hassle to go back to the original park as it was to hop to another one.

I agree! I was really looking forward to using the service next month! I know lots of people said it was a money-grab, but hey, one can choose to use the free bus system. And one could choose to pay a premium for better, faster, park access. I wonder if the Minnie Vans did them in?
No, no the Minnie Van. Can't use them to do what the Express Bus did

I know that the Minnie Vans are not the exact equivalent of the Express Bus, but when Disney can charge more and give less (no express service), they're going to do it.

Ok. But is anyone who was going to use the Express Bus opt for the Minnie Van instead? I guess I don't think so but maybe so.

Probably not. I guess some folks will like the Minnie Van for the quicker service and the much more comfortable seating. Any family with small kids, or mobility-challenged members will love knowing they have a seat, without having to rent a more expensive car. I will probably give the minnie vans a try when Dh and I are there next month. We are at Boardwalk for 3 nights and the fourth night we are staying at the Four Seasons. If the Minnie Vans go there, it might be a good time to try them.

For regular bus transportation from the resort, I can see using the Minnie Van for sure. For those that need the car seat. We use Lyft often but we don't need a car seat option. When we get there next week I'm thinking about trying the Minnie Van one time, instead of calling for Lyft, just to try it. But it will be one and done for us. Minnie Vans are a great addition to the transportation system. Maybe they'll have some sort of hybrid that can do what they do and what they Express Bus did eventually. Something could be worked out with enough planning, I'm sure of it.
