Am I crazy or is bundling the Unlimited Express ticket to a 1-day park hopper at Universal cheaper than adding on the regular Express pass?

I'm so confused by this! For Monday, October 20th, it is cheaper for me to skip the line every time I ride a ride than it is to skip the line only once per ride... it doesn't make sense that it costs less to have a greater advantage over the crowds.

Please explain!

i'm not following your question.
are you asking if it is better to use the regular one time use express pass rather than buying the unlimited pass?

use the SRL when available.
sometimes you will get on the ride sooner than using the express line.
monday shouldn't be a heavy crowd day in the parks.

doing two parks in one day will have you missing a lot of things in the park.
if you concentrate on HP, you might not have time to do other headliners in both parks.

ioa will probably close at 7 while the studios at 6 pm.

No. I'm asking why the Unlimited Express is CHEAPER than the One-Time Express.

Let me break down by numbers.

1-Day Park-to-Park with Unlimited Express for 2 people is $430.00
1-Day Park-to-Park with Express pass (which can only be used once per ride) for 2 people is $470.00

Why is the option that's more appealing, less expensive?
Not that I should really argue with this, but it seems wrong.

And thanks for the input but we're doing a Disney World vacation and really only want to see WWoHP for one day anyways (albeit crowds aren't too bad with Diagon Alley being brand spankin' new in October).

If you're only going for one day and only want to see the Harry Potter sections then the express pass wouldn't be worth buying. The only rides it will work on in those 2 sections are Flight of the Hippogriff and the Dragon Challenge roller coaster in WWOHP. The Gringotts ride and Hogwart's express in all likelihood will not have that option. Neither does FJ.

As to why it's cheaper, who knows? Glitch in the system maybe?

If you are only doing one day and only Harry Potter, the express pass won't help you all that much..In the current area at IOA, only Flight of the Hippogriff and Dragon challenge coasters accept it.Ollivanders and Forbidden journey does not.In the new area, it is likely they wont have it either( not for several months).Keep in mind, that even in low crowds, the exisiting HP area is the busiest ,most crowded section in the park.Diagon alley is not likely to be any different
As for why it is cheaper, it usually isn't.It is likely a glitch

so from what I'm reading...the express doesn't do much for HP stuff? Even if I had one from staying onsite? The best option to see HP stuff would be to stay onsite and early entry?

Correct.
Right now in the exisiting HP area at IOA, there are 4 attractions: Ollivanders wand show, Forbidden Journey, Flight of the Hippogriff coaster and Dragon Challenge coaster. The express pass is only good at the 2 coasters.
The new area at the studios has express pass lines set up for Hogwarts express and Gringotts, but they likely will not be in use for a good long while .(Forbidden Journey has an express pass line set up, but they have never used it and that ride opened in 2010).Express pass is good for all other shows and rides in the parks except for Pteranodon Flyers in the jurassic park area.
Early entry is the best you can do for HP, and even then it has not been stated officially how they will work early entry for the new HP stuff.
