I just saw on Universal's website that they sell a 1 day/2 park pass that includes "unlimited" express plus line hopping. I wasn't aware of that. Am I reading that correctly? Is that the same express unlimited privelage you get staying on-site?

Yes...it's the new VIP Pass which includes park admission and the unlimited Express access for both parks for one day. The hotel perk is the same but onsite guests get the unlimited Express for the duration of their stay...this pass is only good for a single day.

Wow. Puts a crinkle in things a bit. Takes some of the shine off of staying on-site now.

If you are going alone, then it's cheaper to get this VIP pass since it inlcludes your park admission but if you're going with someone else or a family, it's cheaper to stay onsite in most cases. These passes are $149.99/adult and $139.99/child...so you can do the math.

Was trying to figure it out.

It'd be myself, my wife, and our 8 year old. For the 3 of us, tickets would be $450 for 1 day, with unlimited FOTL access. To stay one night at Royal Pacific with 3 one day tickets, the price would be about $550.

We were really hoping to spend a nice long weekend at Universal before Disney, but I can't find any decent deals at all for August. Breaks my heart to read about rates as low as $123 per night. Cheapest I've been quoted is $211 per night.

You have to remember that one night though gives you 2 days of FOTL when staying onsite....so 3 seven day passes and one hotel night will cost you $496 (at your quoted hotel price)plus taxes while 2 days of VIP will cost you over $800. I guess it depends on how many days you want...I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else but onsite, it's soooo convient.
