Express Pass

Going the week between Christmas and New Years, want to buy Express Pass for sure. Is there any reason I would need to purchase it now or can I purchase when we get down there? Does Express Pass sell out? TIA

They can sell out. Also, there are 2 kinds: single use and unlimited.
Have you priced out an onsite deluxe hotel? They come with Express Passes (from check in through check out day).

I haven't been in three years, so I had no idea there were different kinds. What is the difference between single use and unlimited? We are only going to be there for one day. And we are there for a soccer tournament, so we already have another hotel booked.

With one day, I would just purchase the single use EP and save the money. As PP mentions, the single use one allows you to use EP once per ride. The unlimited lets you use EP as many times as you want for each ride. With one day, there won't be a lot of time for re-riding anyhow. And if you can get there at opening, you can do several rides in the standby line with a low wait time and save the EP for a re-ride later in the day when the standby lines are longer.

If you wait to buy the ep once in the park, it may be sold out or have an increase of ep price

Single day ep tickets are bought by date and park

They do sell 2 park 1 day eps

Check the date you are going on the Universal Tickets Add on option. Between Christmas and New Years I’m seeing $169 per express pass (and that’s single use). Depending on how many are in your party and throw away room at one of the 3 hotels might be cheaper.

Even if you already have another room, run the numbers. It’s super nice to show up at Universal hotel the night before- swim, check out the resort, go to CityWalk, play mini golf...early bed then hit the park for early entry with Express Passes. It’s such a nice way to do it vs rushing in the AM and fighting parking crowds and the big security check point. Check all the prices and give it serious thought.
Some never bother even going to their room (truly a throw away room) but I’d absolutely enjoy a night onsite!
