We are going to Universal Studios and IOA on Dec. 6th this year and have a ? or 2 about express passes. On the website there are 4 different price levels. Can someone explain this. Also, with Dec . 6th being a Saturday does anyone think that it would be a good idea to get express pass or don't worry and it will be slow. Keep in mind there will be 4 adults and 1 child under 3.

that time of the year in the past, has not been crowded at the parks.

wait until you get to the parks and judge the crowds for yourself before you buy them.

if you buy the ep now and find no crowds at the park, the epp is not refundable. (even if it shows you did not use them)

the lower the price for the express pass/$20, is an indication that the park will have low crowds.
the most expensive ep would mean large crowds.

the greater the crowds, the higher the ep will go.

you won't pay an admission ticket for the one under 3 but would need the ep for the little if the group buys them.

saturday crowds can be a hit or miss.
weekdays are better for low crowds.

start the park early at 8:30 and you will avoid long lines until 11ish on a saturday.

if you have covered what you planned in advance for, standing in lines for a ride for the rest of the day might be ok with your group if the park tends to grow larger in the afternoon.

That's the best advice...especially for this time of year.

so is there a difference besides the prices on the eps?

The express pass price is different depending on the dates. During peak times the price is more. The price is cheapest when the crowds are less.
