Express Pass Needed???

I Have a couple of questions about crowds and express passes. How are the crowds this week. Maybe someone who is there now could answer that. We are three adults, and will be at Universal Studios on Aug. 21 Monday and IOA on Aug. 17 Thursday. We plan on being at both parks like 30 min before opening. Do you think we will need the express passes for either of those days or both. We are not staying on site. Thanks for your help.

People are coming back with reports of lines around 30 minutes right now. Soooooo, if you hit the parks before opening and do all of the most popular attractions first thing, it sounds as if you shouldn't have a lot of waiting.
