Express Pass in September?

Planning 2 days at Universal and Islands of Adventure in late September. Staying offsite to save a little money. Would love the convenience of express pass but wonder if it's needed with September crowds? Hmmm?

We have been in September for the last 2 years running and haven't used Express passes either time (neither the free ones nor the pay up-front ones). As long as you get there early, the crowds are light enough that you can ride most things before the lines build up. We visited IOA twice last year and never waited more than 15 minutes for anything.

We nearly always go in Sept & the crowds are fairly light,as wilma-bride says get there early & you should have no problem.On our last visit the only attraction to build up any real queue was Shrek & that peaked at 40 mins in the mid afternoon.
