We are going for the first time in July. Staying 2 nights at Portofino Bay so we will have express passes. We will have 2 day park the park tickets. The first day we will get to the park around lunchtime. The following day we will can get there as early as needed. What's the best way to get both Harry Potter rides in? Thanks!

Think of it as three Harry Potter rides...Forbidden Journey, Escape From Gringotts and Hogwart's Express...none of which take Express Passes, so they don't do you any good for Harry Potter...or do they? They allow you to ride most things without much of a wait, if any, which allows you the freedom to ride the Harry Potter stuff when you can, without worrying you will miss out.

So, best way to make sure you ride those? You will get various answers, so I will start off with my suggestions.

Get the Universal Orlando App for your phone...it will tell you what the wait times are and you can decide when you want to hit them.

Best chance to knock out FB is to do the early admission and when you finish FB, head over to board the Hogwarts Express...then try to hit Gringotts.

As an option, you can also take advantage of the Single Rider line, when they have it open at FB and Gringotts (not available on the Express)...however, you will skip quite a bit of the 'Experience', so I recommend this option after you have gone through the main queue at least once.

I found that FJ and Gringotts thinned out later in the day. So the first night I'd do Gringotts (Diagonal Alley is also really cool at night) then use early entry to do FJ the next morning. Also remember you want to do the Hogwarts Express in both directions so we just fit that in when we're in the area and ready to switch parks.

I'll second getting the app and glancing at wait times throughout the day. Sometimes a line wait will just drop for no reason.

Does anyone think you will be able to use your express pass for Forbidden Journey and Gringotts in the future.

They both are truly epic rides and worth the wait but I'm curious if you'll ever be able to use the pass like you can for every other ride.

Advice above is perfect and what we did on a crowded weekend day in NOvember, be at the front of the line for the early admission, whichever park it is. Ride either Forbidden or Gringotts first, then be at Hogwarts Express when it opens at 9 (Hogwarts does not open early), then ride it over to the other park and ride the other ride.

I dunno. It's been a long time since Forbidden Journey opened and still no express.

i thought I read somewhere they were testing it on forbidden journey? cant seem to find the article now..

There was a rumble a few months back EP was being implemented on FJ, but didn't come to anything.

I don't doubt it'll happen eventually, but when that happens is anyone's guess.
