express pass cost

You bring up a good point. My rate was $1350+tax. If I were to book 2 rooms, it could have been $1100. I might look into this as that difference would pay for a meal for my 6.

On the AP, I think it would be about $300+ to upgrade to AP, and then I assume it's going to only be a 30% discount on a room (July), so that would save $330-$400 - not nothing when coming to a differential of $30-100, but probably not something I want to deal with the hassle of given that I'm out-of-state and don't know how easy that is to upgrade over the phone to an annual pass when I don't even have a physical ticket # (booked as a package).

But getting the annual pass gives you a reason to go again soon!

Before I make this switch, is there anything I need to be worried about or thinking through differently? Can I book the AP-discounted rooms through the link you sent? I assume it's like WDW where you just have to get your AP activated as you check-in (I assume this can be done at hotel?).
Looks good. I would lock in the APH rates now, as there are no guarantees that they stick around. It is unfortunate that 3-park APs are so expensive and have extra blockout dates. We've never done VB and the 2-park Seasonal/Power APs have been great deals for us over the years.

It seems like you might already be planning to stay in HRH for that night, which is a great plan. Having the second room to spread out and close walking distance to the parks are a great perk. I recommend taking the ferry at least once, as it is a great relaxing way to get around. You'll do plenty of walking in the parks to make up for it :)

If I'm reading correct, it looks like you were able to add a 4th night and still save $270! Enjoy your trip.

That is what happened to us. We started with a 4 night trip to CB and decided to get Seasonal APs for an extra $25 per person. We had a blast and made a second "cheap" trip later that year. We had 3 trips on our second set of APs (Power + one Preferred). It helps being reasonably close (7-8 hours by car).

The issue is VB. The APs are more expensive and the blockouts for VB are still there for Preferred APs. Since we have a couple decent water parks nearby, and our kids are obsessed with US and IOA, we've been able to avoid VB entirely...
