express pass??and etc

couple questions for u all
1) what is an express pass meaning how does it work exactly?
2) Is it worth the extra $50.00?
3) If i buy the two park one day tickit can i go back and forth between the two parks like disneys park hopper?
4) how close are the two parks i know it seems like dumb question but can you walk between them, or is there transportation?
We are going for one full day not into the big rollercoasters yet, but jaws and such cant wait to see my sons face. Thanks for all your advice

The Parks are within a couple of mins walk of each other.
The express pass, only allows you once on each ride so i personally would not pay that. Have you considered staying at a Universal hotel, you get unlimited fast Pass and if you stay 1 night you can check in early even if your room is not ready, they give you your room key, to use at the park ,and the day you check out you are still able to use your pass till the park closes, so 2 days of Fast Pass and go on the rides as much as you like.
You can also walk back or take the water taxi,for a break at the hotel and a swim before heading back for more.

They are doing a 2 day 2 park ticket 3 rd day free, with free childs ticket on the Universal site

Also according to the website, it is only available for certain dates? is that right?
