Hi all. We are planning a trip for Oct. 5 to 9th. If you had 2 days to do both parks and go midweek do you think it is necessary to purchase the express passes.

no.But keep in mind that the parks do close earlier .You will still have waits, but they shouldnt be terrible

Halloween Horror Nights at the Studios are on 10/5 and 10/9 for your dates. The Studios will most likely close at 5pm on those two nights for HHN set up but will be open at least until 6pm the other nights.

It's unknown at this point if DA will bring in the kind of crowds that would require longer park hours...we won't know until after the busy summer season is over.

That said...I think you would be OK w/o EPs during early October. I always recommend waiting until you arrive and see what the wait times are before purchasing. You can purchase throughout both parks but they are date and park specific...also non-refundable. Wait if you can.

i've been to the darkside the past few years on the dates you posted.
my trip this october begins on sunday oct 5th.....

i have not had crowd issues during that time period before.
the 5th will have people in the studios park growing in the early afternoon.

those that come for the hhn event usually come earlier in order to hit the rides as they keep their evening for hhn hours for shows, houses, etc.

thursday is a work day and i can't remember bad crowds in the studios before 4:00 pm.

the next weekend will be busy as quite a few states have the 3 day weekend for columbus day.
you'll be long gone and avoiding that.

Thank you for the info! I'll be there just about the same time (10/02-10/10) and was wondering about purchasing the Express Passes in advance.

Unless you are going during christmas week , where you KNOW ahead it is going to be insane, we never recommend buying the express pass in advance. They are DATE specific, PARK specifc ( unless you buy 2 park) and completely NONREFUNDABLE should plans change or cancel
