Express Monorail To Stop @ The Contemporary Resort

Yeah, it sounds like the leak is probably around the resort beam so they're shutting it down entirely through the Contemporary and using the express as a backup - so the resort monorail only goes between GF and Poly. (Though you think it would include the TTC and the MK too but it would "ping pong" back and forth from MK to TTC and back and never go through the Contemporary...)

Maybe they are excluding TTC for crowd control and time issues because they know that the ping pong is really going to slow things down and they want to cut out some of the crowds. You can easily walk from Poly to TTC so it is still manageable for the GF Poly people. When we stayed at the Poly we always walked to the TTC to catch the monorail to EPCOT instead of getting on the resort line. I am betting it is still going to go from Poly to GF and MK and back, even though there is not a mention of MK.

It would have to go the MK I would hope. I can't see much point in a monorail that only goes to the Poly and GF LOL.

I was thinking the same thing but... How're the GF people gonna get to Ohana otherwise? :lmao:

So maybe it isn't making a full loop - just MK to TTC and back again, to avoid CR?

I just want to be sure I can take the monorail from MK to Poly for my O'Hana reservation on 2/25!!!

The boat is nice! ;) (Actually, we do really like the boat- the times we have stayed at the Poly we took it to MK and back more than we took the monorail).

I think someone has missed the most obvious thing here...resort guests don't have access to the Express beam from the resorts!

Both the Polynesian and Grand Floridian platforms on the express side of the monorail have staircase access, so they could be used, although it would be an issue for guests in wheelchairs

Interesting.:)

Has the Express ever stoped at GF and Poly? Thanks.:)

Tikiman just posted that the resort monorail will stop at Poly, GF and MK. Express monorail MK, TTC, CR. So it affects the people at the GF who want to monorail it to Epcot. They'll either need to take the monorail to MK, then board the express or take a bus to Epcot. Poly guests can simply walk to the TTC.

So if you reopen the article in the first post, I am not sure if this was an edit on it, but it now says the resort beam will stop at the Magic Kingdom. The only change here is that the express will stop at the Contemporary Resort and the resort beam will not.

Now, those worried about EPCOT. If you are staying at the Grand Floridian or the Polynesian, it is a short walk to the TTC, and maybe even faster then taking the resort monorail all the way around. Now, I know some people do not like to add extra walking, or maybe have a reason they cannot. You can transfer from the resort beam to the express beam at the Magic Kingdom. Then take the express to the TTC. It also says that these resorts will be getting buses to and from EPCOT.

I'm dating myself here, but yes, what's now the Express did stop at the Poly. Back in the day when the Poly and CR were the only hotels on the monorail, one monorail ran CR, Poly, MK and the other ran Poly, CR, MK. My sister and I had fun deciding which way to go each time. Different sets of steps went to each platform.

I don't know whether the Express ever stopped at GF.

How would you like to be the CMs assigned to the monorail platforms who will have to explain this to guests several hundred times a day.:faint:

One step above working a FP+ kiosk. ;)

The express monorail is also on the outside of the resort beam in the Contemporary, with no way to cross the tracks. How are passengers going to exit the train and go down a floor?

Use the doors on the Express monorail that face west when stopped inside the Contemporary.

I remember years ago we got on the express beam one time at the Contemporary. It was really crowded and it stopped for us, I think before MVMCP. This was when MVMCP had a hard close.

My understanding is that the express loop often stops at the CR during Christmas Mass, Easter, and other times when hundreds of people exist the resort at the same time.
