DH went to IOA tonight and reports that if you're using Express, you can only ride Ice now. There were some pretty unhappy Express campers in the line. I sure hope it's only a temporary policy.

I heard something about that a while ago but I thought Universal changed it back to the old way since loading was a nightmare and the lines were very long. Oh well...I'm sure they'll switch it back when it gets busy. :confused3

The entire time we were there last week, express was both coasters although they were not always running both sides on all other rides. MIB was hit or miss as was Mummy. The kids did both DD coasters back to back each day while we were there. The wait lines were very short for DD even though the crowds were pretty good.

Yes, this was apparently very recent. Last time DH was there, it was both coasters and had been reconfigured. Then yesterday he discovered the new blue-only change.

i do both sides but ICE is my favorite.
Pyrrock will burn you every time sister!

Yea it is there solution to their budget cut scenario. If they are only running 1 train on each side, the express line, even if it were to merge with standby would still be a 30+ minute wait, so they solved this by giving express their own track. Dumb idea, but whatever, somebody made it.

Hmmmm .... so does this mean that you can now use Express to ride in the front row of Ice? I'm just trying to figure out the logistics of blocking the front row off from the rest of Express?

Also, is this something they can change? Like 3-4 days a week, Ice is Express and the remaining days Fire is the Express?

Wonder how long this will be going on?

That is stupid because all last week it was running just fine without any issues. Some of the cost cutting decisions are crazy. Why don't they cut the air conditioning in some of the buildings instead. Geez louise, you freeze in some of those places!!!

I can see cutting back when the crowds are really low, but last week, the crowds were quite moderate and there were cutbacks that had big impacts. We went to Jaws at 10 oclock and the express line was wrapped all the way around and the standby line was 45 minutes. They were running 3 boats. Then we proceeded to MIB where the standby line was about 45 minutes since they were only running one side.

It just made us angry. If we had been there any longer, we would have gone to do Disney. I can see it turning a lot of people off. Not what they should be doing at all.

Wow thanks for the heads up! I'm going this weekend and at least now I'm mentally prepared for the long waits so I won't get as grouchy. Getting there and experiencing that mess would have probably ruined my day.

DH told me it was a good thing I didn't come the other day because there was a Mardi Gras crowd and the Express lines in general were out of control (I was at home working). Mummy and MiB were ridiculous. They need to stop the cost-cutting cutbacks on the Mardi Gras days because it just disgruntles people.

I do have to say that SeaWorld is pretty bad at loading Kraken (although it's an awesome coaster...I love it as much as Hulk!). When we were there, for much of the day they only ran one train so the line was crazy. Then they added a second train, but they took nearly as long to load it anyway. Sigh. I can't wait till Manta opens...between that and Uni's new coaster it's gonna be a great summer (well, maybe not so great line-wise...I wonder if Uni will solve the problem by just not opening Express on RRR for a while).

I hope they open Express for RRR! I want my FOTL to ride it. We'll only have 2 days for US/IOA on our next trip.

We were at SeaWorld on Wednesday and they were loading two trains at Kraaken. Yes, they are unbelievably slow!!! However, we only waited about 10 minutes for front row, so we were very happy about that. The ride was a walk on and they were running both trains. After seeing what USF was doing, we were quite surprised and impressed. We actually thought about going back for our second free day. I can see why people would do that over Universal when the lines are so bad at Universal for no good reason.

If the lines are over 30 minutes by 10 am, you know that you are doing something wrong with your cost cutting measures.

Is the Express pass the same as hotels guest FOTL privilege?
