Express Check out Questions

When we check in at ASMu in a few weeks, I'd like to hand the CM a bunch of cash to use against our room key. I'd also like to take advantage of express check out. If there is anything left from the bunch o' cash I handed the CM earlier in the week, does the hotel send you a check in a week or so after you check out or could/should I get the $$$ back the night before & still use the room key on our last day which would be backed up by my credit card?

This is also assuming that the bunch o'cash has not been depleted by the end of the week - but then again, WHOM are we kidding?

I've never liked the idea of handing a "bunch o' cash" over at registration. If I were you I'd take my cash (I"m assuming you're talking travelers checks) and put it in my room safe, and give them the CC at check-in. The night before go down and pay your bill with the cash/checks and let them know the rest should go on the credit card.

I have always used express check out with my AmEX card. I check the bill periodically though my stay. I would never hand anyone that I did know personally a bunch of cash for yet unknown expenses. There would be know way to protect yourself from theft. I would really think this thru more thoroughly.

I wouldn't be concerned about handing cash to the CM. I know a lot of people on the boards prefer to do it that way. I would just make sure you get a receipt and be sure there is a credit on your account of $$$. I don't know how that works with express checkout, sorry.

Did you know that all credit card companies allow you to overpay thus you can put that money on your credit card, have a positive balance and charge against it like a debit card without worrying about keeping up with cash or having it stolen? That would also protect all of your purchases under your card rights.
