DH and I are staying at POR for the 1st time this Dec. We've seen pictures around the resort but we would like to explore both resorts on foot.

We'd like ideas, even turn-by-turn directions, for a walking tour that will cover both POR and FQ resorts. Are the walking paths clearly marked?

Even more important, we need to know how to go from the mansions at POR to pick beignets from FQ for breakfast. ;)

Anyone happen to know how many miles around both resorts?

TIA

Two tips to start
-- check out the resort maps on allearsnet.com (one map for both resorts)
-- walking paths very clearly marked

In April we stayed at POR for 3 nights and then at POFQ for 13 nights. Often walked between the 2 of them, in fact, some mornings we'd do 2 laps. I'm sorry that I can't remember the distance... It's not a long distance, if you do the entire loop around POR, using what we call the "river path", and then walk to POFQ, I THINK it's less than 1.5 miles -- the distance may be noted at allearsnet.com

To get from the mansions to POFQ --
If you're in the mansions closer to alligator bayou, cross over to the pool island, then when you cross over to the "main building" (food court, resturant, guest services) turn left, follow pathway along the river, go under the road (there's still a paved pathway), there's POFQ -- use the maps to figure out YOUR way to get to Sassagoula Floatworks (POFQ food court) OR when you see the fencing for the pool (you'll go past some of the guest buildings, actually quite close to Bldg 5) turn right, that little street will take you right up to the planting bed in front of the food court.
If you're in the mansions closer to the roadway, turn left when you get to the river, there's a bike path / walking path that goes over the roadway - loops around like a cloverleaf interchange - goes back under the roadway, follow directions above.

Have fun!

This is exactly the info. I was looking form + a whole lot more :thumbsup2

Here's the map for the resort. It has two paths marked out for guests.

Wandering these resorts is WONDERFUL. The path between the two follows the river, so it's very easy to find. You also can get lost in the Aligator Bayou (in a good way), so just wander around. It's a very cool element, especially at night. One suggestion I have is to hop the boat back from DTD but stop at POFQ then walk back to Riverside. It is a very relaxing end to an evening. I'll be doing it myself in a week!

DH remembers that the walk is less than 1.25 miles to do complete loop =
all the way around Riverside, over to POFQ, stopping at food court, walking to far end of POFQ, taking entire river path at POFQ...
