Explain the Food and Wine Festival, please

We have never been during this event. Are there activities for kids? I assume the food offered for sale is just a sample size based on the prices I saw? Is this event usually crowded? Are the concerts crowded? We just moved to Florida and would like to hit some of these special events we could never get to before. It is much different being an hour away instead of 1200 miles away! Thanks.

that was last year so I can tell you what I saw.

Each country has a booth set up so that you can try a sampling of their native food for anywhere from $1 to I think $3. There was alot of street performers. I did not attend any of the concerts so I can't help you there. They did do this thing for the kids where you get a mask and they add a little design thing at each country representing something from their country.....hard to explain for me maybe someone else can help you better their but it is really neat.

The concerts are in the American Theatre and anyone can watch although you do get preferential seating if do the eat to the beat package. Free wine tastings are held in the oddessy and the Terrace (inbetween Morrocco & france i think) there are also free cooking demonstrations where you also get a free tasting. These can be very busy. There are notice boards outside stating what the tasting will be. Also there was a beer seminar in England which filled up very fast! You had to sign up at the Rose & Crown.

There are also cooking demonstrations, Grand Tasting type meals, cookbook authors etc... This will be my 3rd year at F&WF. I really enjoy it alot.
In 2000, my son had a "scavenger hunt" type game, where he had to go to different countries & fill in the blanks for some food-related phrases & get his map stamped. At the end, he recieved a pin. He also did the Kidcot masks. Those years, I couldn't get him OUT of the WS, he liked the cooking demos as much as me! (he was 11 & 12 for those trips)

I think it's a don't miss event. Enjoy!

There should also be more info available closer to the start date. Check the home page here and on the official WDW site. As discussed in another thread, you might want to join the Florida resident dining program. It will give you discounts and first crack at the reservations.
