Have a feb vaca booked using points. In the process of purchasing a second small contract that has points that are going to expire by sept. I don't plan on traveling again before sept and I don't want to lose those points. Will member services let me switch the original points I booked with(that can be banked) and use the expiring ones once the contract goes thru?

Not if your reservation was booked using your home resort priority window & your resale points that will be expiring have a different home resort.

Perhaps if they are the same home resort, but I really don't know for certain.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards App, please excuse any typos or autocorrects!

Also, it is not possible to use points that expire at the end of September 2013 for a trip in Feb 2014. It is too late to bank them for that purpose. Those points must be used for a trip that ends no later than Sep 30 or be forever lost.

If you mean that those points will expire next month (I am assuming the contract came with some points that were already banked or borrowed) then I would contact the Timeshare Store to see about renting them out last minute. Something similar happened to us...we purchased a small contract and were "surprised" at an extra 36 points or so when all was said an done....but points had to be used within 30 days and we had just returned from a trip, so no way. TSS rented them for us right away....not for top dollar but less since it was last minute. Someone that lived not far from Disney was looking for a long weekend. There are alot of folks like that out there....and they truly get a good deal for last minute stuff like that.

If you meant that the points expire NEXT September, then I would call member services as soon as your contract is settled to see if you can fool with the points for your upcoming trip. it can get tricky, though, if you banked or borrowed points for that trip. If the CM doesn't "get" what you are saying, ask to speak to a supervisor. Not all CM's have the same knowledge base.

We have a number of contracts at 4 different resorts and different use years....I have to be very vigilant when it comes to reserving, banking, borrowing, etc. But I always say it was the best $$ we have ever spent.

LOL, we were posting at the same time! The best thing would be to call and ask. Or if you are really sure you won't be making any other trips, you should be able to rent them....you won't make alot of $$, but it is better than losing them; plus the $$ can offset the maintenance fees. I am pretty sure we did that "fooling" with points with our first Alauni trip....but not exactly sure. But again, you need to be careful not to lose any original points that were borrowed or banked. Good luck and congrats on scoring your contract.

Sorry I meant sept 2014. And didn't use home resort priority. Thanks!

If your trip is in Feb, yes you should be able to switch the points to the expiring Sept 2014 points....as long as you booked at the 7 month mark and sooner. If you booked in the 7-11 month window, you would have to cancel and rebook in order to use those points....or so I have read. Best to just call MS, but they should be able to do it. No sense in wasting points.

Not sure how many points, but a year is plenty of time to rent them out if you aren't able to switch.

I would write down all the details first, do the calculations yourself after switching, and then call MS. Know exactly how many points you should have left from each contract.

I just recently tried switching around points 2 months ago. I ended up having to call back and have them redo things because MS did not use the right contract. Mine is probably messier than yours with several contracts, different resorts and some transferred points!
