Expiration Date for Disney Visa Redemption Cards

Once you redeem your Visa rewards and put them on a REdemption Card, when does the card expire? I understand how the expiration dates for how long you have to redeem. My question is once they are redeemed, how long until the redemption card expires.

The rewards expire when the card expires. If it is a new rewards card, it expires on Dec. 31 of the year following the year in which it was ordered. IOW, if you were to order a rewards card today, it (and all of the points on it) will expire on Dec 31, 2014. If you are just transferring rewards to an existing card, make sure that it doesn't expire before you intend to use the card.

Yes if you redeem for a new card TODAY that card will expire on 12/31/2014 (midnight, EST).

You know you if you transfer rewards to the card and don't plan to use the rewards before the card expires you can have those rewards put on to a gift card. Simple call the redemption number on the back of the reward redemption card and ask to transfer the remaining balance on the rewards card to a GC.

I was able to purchase Disney gift cards at the Disney store using my redemption card.

I was wondering the same thing as OP. Our Disney Visa expires in May of 2015 but we've had some things come up and now Disney looks like it might have to wait until late 2015 or even 2016. Can we take our Disney dollars from the credit card and use them to purchase Disney gift cards, with the intention of buying park tickets and food at Disney World in a couple years?

Are you planning to cancel your Disney Visa when it expires? If not, then don't worry about when your current Visa card expires. It has nothing to do with when the rewards expire. Your statement should list expiration dates for the rewards that you have accrued.

No, we are not planning to cancel it. Thanks so much for your reply! That's great news! If we keep renewing the card, do the rewards keep renewing or do they still expire? I checked our statement and it says rewards expire in July 2015. What are our options if we can't get our trip to Disney World in before then? We would love to find a way to put our rewards toward our trip but I'm afraid they will expire before then.

The rewards will expire on the dates listed on your statements. If you have rewards that will expire before you have plans to go to Disney, do as the others have suggested: convert the rewards dollars to Disney Gift Cards. Just make sure that they are Disney Gift Cards and not Disneystore Gift Cards. You cannot use Disneystore Gift Cards at the parks for food, tickets or room.
