Hi Just wonder why, and what you would do

I booked our disney vacation through a CAA travel Agent, so we could get the Bronze package. I went to finalize the arrangements and we started talking airfare. The prices she was quoting me was a lot higher than the current expidia prices. I questioned this and all she said was you shoud not book airfare through them, since you already booked the disney part through us you need to book airfare with us. Then she changed the subject and said that we have a little time yet to buy the airfare.

So my question is do I have to buy my airfare through CAA, or can I book it through expedia?

Thanks for your input

You don't have to buy airfare from them and I wouldn't if they weren't the best deal.

I have never used expedia so I can't comment.

I have used both expedia and travelocity and have not had any problems with either.

Hope you get a great deal whatever way you choose to go! :)

And had no probs at all. I would go with wherever the best price is and what suits you not anyone else!

Maybe the travel agent added some kind of fee to the purchase price of the ticket. If Expedia has the better deal, you can go through them... there's nothing saying you have to go through the agent. Of course if there are changes to your itinerary, the TA should be able to keep an eye on those...

I have booked throu expedia b4 too and had no problems.

Just wondering why a travel agent would basically tell me I can't book with expedia! I hate when someone tells me I can't do something. Does it make my arrangements that I made through her invalid or something? Since I have already booked a disney package through her I need to book my airfare with her. Have I made a verbal contract, one that I was unaware of making?

thanks again for the help

I've used expedia for air fare. They are good. However, call the airline at least 3 times to confirm your tickets BEFORE you go.

The internet is a great place but not the most reliable in the world.

Of course, you can do anything you want or buy anywhere you want but I wonder how much time the travel agent gave you and how much of her expertise you used when you booked your package. There isn't a large commission in the package for the TA. For the most part unless the flight is AC, you will pay the same on Expedia as you will with a TA. Keep in mind if something does go wrong with your package or flight the TA will act on your behalf. If you book on Expedia the responsibility is yours to find out about changes to flight times etc.

Just my 2 cents.

It does depend on what kind of package you've purchased, and what vendor your TA did the package through.

It could be that the hotel/pass portion of the package has a certain pricing on condition that the airfare is purchased through the same vendor (possibly Air Canada Vacations).

Many vendors have similar arrangements - for instance pick up a FunSun brochure and you'll see pretty good rates for park passes. But you can't just order park passes from them, you have to purchase them as part of a package. It used to be that you could order the passes separately, but they were a higher price than listed if not purchased as part of a package.

I have found that every time I have gone through a travel agent, the price has always been significantly higher than I could have personally found elsewhere. I have used Expedia and have had to deal with their customer service, and they were extremely helpful. I did have a change to my air itinerary and they did email the changes.
I really thought the service from Expedia was exceptional. I was contemplating using a TA for my upcoming trip, but I found that after a little pricing investigating, I got a MUCH better deal.
Just my thoughts,
Joline
