Experiences with requests for late checkouts?

We are headed for Wilderness Lodge June 8-14th. Our departing flight does not leave until 6:30 p.m., so I thought I'd call and ask to arrange for a late checkout. I called WL directly and was told that we could call housekeeping the night before our departure to check if our room would be available for late checkout the next day. I'm a little disappointed that we would have to wait until then to find out. Is this the norm for requesting late checkout? I've never done it at any other hotel. thanks!!!

That is normal. It all depends on how busy the resort is and if your room is scheduled for someone else that day.

Also, the latest I have heard being allowed without being charged extra is 1:00.

So, if WDW is expecting packed resorts then I can probably count on not getting one and it will be a treat if we do. Thanks for the info.

I had no problem on February 5th at Port Orleans Riverside with a late check-out, but it's slower that time of year.

I just did this the moring of departure...which was this past friday (27th)at the wilderness lodge...same reason.....check-out is 11:00, they said 12...I still had a few hours to kill.

I just did late check-out also at WL on May 25th. Called down that morning and requested late check-out at 1:00 and was told no problem. She did check to see what room I was in, so nobody was probably expected to be in that room for a little while. It was very nice to have those extra little 2 hours!!

In late Aug and early September we have had late checkouts one time was 1 p.m. but last year we were able to stay until 2 pm without charge. That was at CBR.

The only times I've been able to get late check-out is when we are moving to another Disney resort. The latest has always been 1pm.

when I asked this past friday for my late check-out...I wanted 1:30 around there...they had to call the room assigner to see...if someone is lined up for the room you have, then that detemines wheather you get or not....I guess I was just not to luckey there
