Sadly, it seems like good luck pixie dust is not on my side this time! I just tried to book a (marginally) last minute trip for me and my DBF at just about any DVC for October 28th - November 2nd. And wouldn't you know it, all of the studios in every hotel are full-up! I completely blanked on how packed everything would be because of F&W. Have any of your ever had experiences with booked up DVCs opening up? I'm not holding onto too much hope, but who knows! Thanks!

You may want to get on the waitlist for one of the resorts and see what happens. You can also try to stay at one of the disney collection hotels(I know it's more points). I've been told by DVC that sometimes people cancel at the last minute(month or so out), so you may still be able to get a reservation. I made my reservation for F&W at the 7 month mark and was surprised at how few places had availability. I've been checking daily to see if my waitlist property will come available. I'm not holding out much hope.

Most of the time, if a member is going to cancel, it will be 31 or more days out so their points don't go into holding.

Get on the waitlist with the most likely resort - maybe OKW non-HH area or SSR. A one bedroom might be more likely than a studio if you have the points.

If you happen to be in the last four months of your UY, you won't be able to book the Disney Collection. And if you have resale points since March 20, 2011, you can't use them anytime for the Disney Collection. But if you book Disney Collection, if you cancel that, you won't be able to use those points to book a DVC resort.

We just did this last week, and scored a studio at OKW from the 25th-29th of october.

I ended up booking the nights of the 26th & 27th, then waitlisted the night of the 28th. That night came through a few days later, then the airfare spiked  Figures.

So we waitlisted the night of the 25th, hoping to score that night...at this point, I figured we would cut our losses, and just not go as it was not working out. Lo & behold, the SAME day, the night of the 25th opened up for us. We booked our airfare, and god willing, we are going princess:

So moral of the story: Call & waitlist. Pixie dust for you...keep us posted!! pixiedust:

I would wait list at both Saratoga & Old key west

We found rooms at the last minute (within 1-2 weeks) at BLT, but had to move 2 times during the week of July 4. We could have simplified our stay by moving only once to another resort (VWL or SS) for the last 4 days of our trip, but my DD wanted to stay at BLT the entire time. I spent a lot of time searching for rooms on-line and also by calling MS. Be careful when looking at the last minute since changes may create holding points when working within 30 day window.

If you're set on going, get on the wait list and tell them you want it to ride until 7 days out. Book a backup plan you can cancel. Consider off site if that is acceptable to you. Either way it might be an opportunity to try something else.

Keep checking and get on the waitlist. While checking something else, I noticed that SSR has studios available for your dates. If the studios are gone at SSR when you try to book, get on the waitlist. Odds are very much in your favor.

Good luck!
