Experiences at the new CG?

We're going next month and I'm sure it will be the same CG that we always loved...the few negative reviews I've read are mostly from the steak lovers...we usually get apps and suishi which I feel has always been the real strength of CG menu wise.

I actually stopped ordering the filet years ago at CG, they never seem to be able to cook it correctly. I've seen many going back to the kitchen.

We ate there last Monday and really enjoyed it! I've been to the CA Grill many times and was satisfied with the renovation. Our service was pretty good, too.

I started with the meatballs, then the pork two ways, and the seasonal dessert sampler. Everything was very good!

How was the portion size for your Pork Two Ways? I read one review and they said they were laughing at how small it was

I thought it was a decent size on par with entrees at the other signatures; here is a picture I took of it:

We're going on the 1st of November and I'm really looking forward to it! I'm sure they are experiencing some kinks but will work it out soon. :goodvibes

I dined at CG on opening night (9/9). It was my first time at this restaurant so I can't compare it to prior to the refurb. While the food was good, I wouldn't call it great by any means. And the portion size is way too small for the confiscatory prices they charge. $43 for three scallops? That's obscene.

I'm not cheap by any means. But I expect some value in a meal. I was clearly paying for a view, and I wasn't even seated at the window. To think I skipped Narcoossee's for this. That won't happen again. And I guess the "remodel" was to give the place a throwback look. It didn't seem very contemporary to me, and it definintely wasn't "California" by any stretch of the imagination.

We went on 10/4 and had once again, one of the best meals of our lives! I was nervous about the tomato risotto and butter with the filet and it was amazing. The jumbo prawns were wonderful, too. Love the atmosphere here! Our steaks were the best of the trip and we at eat Narcoosee's, Yachtsman and Flying Fish ( all excellent but Cali Grill seems to be our favorite). I just love the feeling you get walking into the Contemporary Hotel...like no other place

DH and I will be there second week in December....I was so excited to get 2 ADR's in that week....Just love GC...but......I am not to happy reading the negative reviews..
.I cancelled one and may just stay with our FF...since we are at BWV anyway...
