Hi All,

We are going on a last minute plan to Disney the week before July 4th. (yes I know we are crazy, but only week we could get away). We are staying at POP for a quick 5 night trip.

So I didn't have a chance to make ADR's so we are thinking of just doing CS for all our meals. We have a large chunk of Disney reward dollars so we are thinking of booking the QS dining plan. We may decide to go out and order a TS meal or two, but I suspect we will stick to CS.

Just wondering peoples likes and dislikes of this plan. I tried to find some comments but don't see much on it.

If you have been on it, do you feel it is worth it?

Did you use your credits more for dinner/lunch or breakfast/dinner?

Were the snacks hard to use?

OH one more thing we are going to AP holders, should we do the Tables in Wonderland card instead? Anyone use that and think that is a better deal?

Thanks so much!!

For the QS plan it really depends on how your family eats. We planned well so for most of the time we were okay with it. We have DS (6) and DD(9) who are adventurous and hearty eaters. We made sure we went to places such as El Perita where they had a huge fixins bar to make their tacos into salads or hamburgers into something more substantial with lettuce, pickles, etc... But, I researched everything knowing where we could get the most "bang" for our buck.

We usually used our credits for lunch and late dinner and got fruit for desserts and ate that for breakfast. We also had granola bars and cereal in our room to supplement breakfasts. We were usually trying to get to the park openings so we didn't really miss a sit down breakfast too much. We did not go to openings 2 of our 8 days and on those days did walk to the food court for breakfast.

Hope this helps some. :)

My DD(13) and I did the QS plan in March and really enjoyed it.
We have never used a dining plan before since we don't like to be tied down to too many reservations - but the QS plan was perfect for us.
With DD considered an adult by Disney standards, she got adult meals also. We would share some of our meals so we could get some breakfast meals too, but mostly used our credits for lunches and dinners. Plus with two snack credits pp every day we had more than we needed.
We used snack credits on lots of bottled waters (it was hot), fruit, veges, muffins, and donuts at the food court, smooties at DS, popsicles and other treats. We did have a few leftover and bought snacks and treats to take home. We would probably do it again.:)

We just returned from our trip at POP recently and we used the Quick Service Dining Plan. Our mix was 2 adults, 2 kids (ages 3 and 6). We loved the plan!! For the entire week, we only spent $70 out of pocket for food.

At first, it seems like there is a huge amount of snack credits - in our case 56! We had some to use up the last couple of days, so we used them for breakfast mostly and then used up the last 4 for treats for the airplane home.

Pop, in particular, has some good choices for food - shrimp lo mein was a favorite.

I highly recommend it. Have a great time!

Thank you all! This is a great option to consider and I am glad to see most people liked it. I think for us this trip is about doing the parks and not eating at CS restaurants. So I will seriously consider this! Thanks for your input!

Thanks OP for asking the question, we were torn between doing QS or OOP. I went ahead and added QS for our upcoming trip, hopefully it will work well. We are staying at CSR, and with the Pepper Court being so expensive I think the QS plan will come in handy.

I can answer these questions...

Just wondering peoples likes and dislikes of this plan. I tried to find some comments but don't see much on it.

For us, (4-adults) it was very much worth it. It was great to let everyone pick what they wanted to eat. Not having to worry about the prices was a great relief to me. Since everything was paid for in advance, I didn't have to worry about ordering something that cost less.

Did you use your credits more for dinner/lunch or breakfast/dinner?
We used our credits for big breakfasts (and we're not normally breakfast eaters at home.) Sometimes a big lunch, and then for dinners. We had enough credits for 3 meals a day because my son didn't use meal credits for every meal. Some of his meals consisted of snack credits for salads, carrots and celery sticks, and french fries, pieces of fruit, and fruit bowls.

Were the snacks hard to use?
Even with my son using the snack credits for his food choices, we had oodles left by the last day. We grabbed up snacks in DHS, and got REAL coffee drinks at the Writer's Stop.
There was so much food on the plan, that we didn't use 2 snack credits.
I think if it had been hotter (and not raining all day, almost every day) we would have had trouble building up appetites to use all our CS meal credits.

Likes: Yak & Yeti - shrimp lo mein and honey chicken
Cosmic Ray's - 1/2 BBQ chicken and ribs
Pepper Market - ribeye steak, prime rib
Blizzard Beach - Asian salad, chicken breast nuggets

Dislikes: not much except the burgers weren't too tasty but had lots of fixings

If you have been on it, do you feel it is worth it?

There were 4 of us (2 adults, 1 teenager & 1 child) and there was too much food. If we were not on the QSDP, we would not have ordered a drink each or a dessert each. We could have shared our entrees, drinks and desserts. Since we were on the plan, we ordered all that we were entitled to. We took some of the desserts (fruits) back to the room for breakfast. So, this question depends on how much one can eat or is willing to eat? :confused3

Did you use your credits more for dinner/lunch or breakfast/dinner?

We used most of our CS credits for lunch and late dinners. We also used some of our snack credits for fruits and pastries for breakfast. After eating the CS meals, sometimes we were too full to eat snacks! :sad2:

Were the snacks hard to use?

The snack credits were easy to use, it was nice to be able to try different things - many to choose from. We had 80 snacks between the 4 of us and I let my kids have anything that they wanted, well almost ... not too much candy! ;) We did use them all up by our last day (took drinks and fruit with us on our road trip). :yay:

We did the QSDP because we didn't want to be tied down to reservations. We wanted to enjoy the parks and eat when we are feeling hungry. Even though it was convenient to have our meals prepaid, I am not sure that we would use it again due to the amount of food. I have yet to calculate how much money we saved on this plan vs what we would have spent if we weren't on the plan (I kept every receipt and made sure that we wrote down the total food bill on each). And I think that I gained a few pounds because of all this eating! :lmao:

Thank you all for your comments. We have decided to use the QSDP this time and give it a try. Since we will be four "adults" I suspect there will be plenty of food. I especially agree that what I want most is to not worry about the cost each time we go to eat. I want the kids to pick what they want and I am hopeful that it won't be too difficult to use a kids meal CS with an Adult credit. I am sure Disney has run into many of the younger "adults" wanting a kids meal. We will have to see how it goes!

Thanks for all the opinons. Now I have to figure out what are good uses of the CS credits. My DH is hopping for the Mexican CS place in Mexico!

Loved loved the QSDP!!!!!! Got back 3 days ago, and our family really enjyed it. Ate 1 burger the whole time there. I did alot of research, to make sure of that. Our fave was Wolfgang puck's Marketplace!! Ate there 3 times!! Definitely was a great value for us. We would share our lunches, so that we could have a breakfast platter at Pop, and eat dinner nightly. My husband is a tightwad and really knows that we saved lots of money using this. Dis the reg. dining plan last year, and enjoyed this more, not being tied to reservations!! Pop snacks are yummy, too. The kids loved the ice cream!!

Thanks so much! We are staying at POP too. What kinds of snack can you remember using there? Can you think of any of the CS in the parks you liked a lot?

Sounds like you did what we plan to do. Do a breakfast platter in the morning and then share lunches and each have our dinners. I am hoping this will work!

at Pop, we got tied dyed cheedecake, icecream, popcorn, nochos with cheese(yum), cotton candy for the kids, grapes, fruit, bagels, etc. Lots to choose from. Pop was awesome for us with the Qsdp.

Our fave restaurants: Flame Tree Barbeque, Wolfgang Puck Cafe at Downtown Disney, Cosmic Ray's, El Pererita in Mexico at Epcot( yummy!!) at the end of our trip(7 days) in the parks, Pop offers you alot of food, too. We always got a snack with our meal that we would save for later, and that's why we had so many snack credits left!! we were stuffed, and had 23 snack credits left, that we used at Goofy's candy store!!
