I'm looking for a safe way to add extra heat to our playroom, which is actually a converted two-car garage. The previous owners of our house finished off the room nicely, but only put one heat vent, which isn't enough for this 16x20 room. The room winds up being about 5 degrees colder than the rest of the house, and I don't want to crank up the heat for the entire house just to bring that room up a bit. On the flip side, I'm not comfortable putting a conventional electric-coil space heater in there, since the kids are usually in there unattended (not to mention how inefficient those heaters are).
In doing research online, I came across infrared heaters, like those from EdenPURE (http://www.edenpurestore.com/home) and ComfortZone
(http://www.czinfrared.com/). They seem too good to be true-not hot to the touch, 90% efficient, no fire hazard, no fumes, etc. But the only testimonials I can find are on sponsored sites, which makes me leery. Any opinions from real-world users are appreciated.
Thanks!
