Experience with checking luggage at resort for flight home...

We are flying Delta and using ME for our trip to Disney next week. For our flight back, we have a connecting flight. I wanted to take advantage of checking our luggage at Pop Century and not have to worry about towing it around at MCO, but I am concerned about where/when I will find our luggage at our home airport.

I know that airlines have the right to put our luggage on any flight that it can fit – even if it isn’t our flight. And I am not sure when the luggage will actually leave the resort and get to MCO. I wanted to know what other’s experience has been with this and if anyone knows how this actually works (esp. with the use of resort check-in and connecting flights). Has your luggage been waiting for you when you get to your home airport? Has it arrived earlier, later? What should I expect?

Thanks in advance!!

If you have a flight late in the evening and use the resort check-in early in the day, then your luggage may very well go earlier than you do.

When you arrive at your home airport, before waiting too long at your home carousel, wander over to the luggage security desk and see if it's there.

If you have a flight between 9am and 1pm, your luggage most likely will be on the same flight you are on.

It is very unlikely that your luggage will be on a later flight than you are on because the resort airline check-in will not allow you to check your luggage later than 3 hours before your flight.

We flew Song by Delta in October and we checked our luggage at the BC around 10 in the morning. Our flight was close to 1 PM. Our luggage arrived on the carousel with all of the other luggage from our flight. It was a dream!! I am heading down this weekend, but I am traveling on AirTran and they are not a participating airline. I will miss the convenience of luggage check in and getting my boarding pass at the hotel.

We checked our bags at about 9:30 am for our 7:30pm flt and our bags were on the carousel.

we didn't have the best experience checking our luggage at the resort.

We brought our luggage down about 3 1/2 hours early (we had an 11:00 am flight).

There was a problem printing our luggage tags. The staff kept saying it would be okay, they would fix it, so we spent about 45 minutes dealing with it.
We had a rental car, so we left for the airport, still having to check a couple bags (the tag was supposed to print and didn't, and they weren't allowed to do another).

We drove to the airport, still having to check some bags, and the lines were horrendous (it was Xmas week)

We made our flight okay, but it was very stressful. We purposely brought down our luggage early, expected to get tags, drive off and drop off the car (not having to transport luggage, ) and get in the security line.

This was 12/05, so I'm sure the glitches have been worked out.
