HI all:

so i was lucky enough to get a DS lite for my cousin from Amazon for $99. I didn't have to wait in line at walmart and was thrilled. We had our holiday lunch with them today and i gave her the DS lite. well, after charging it for 2 hours it won't turn on.

I think it may be defective. when i got home i tried to contact amazon about an exchange but it seems i can only return it for what i paid. they won't exchange it for another. all the online process can offer is a refund of what i paid. i don't mind that but would really prefer an exchange so my cousin can ahve her DS.

i nearly broke my heart to see how disappointed she was. she's only 7! anyway, does anyone have any experience getting amazon to exchange something?

thanks

Lara

You need to contact them and get the exchange approved. I got a damaged product last year and they sent out the new one and gave me a return label. I just had to return the damaged product within 30 days.

See Exchanges:

If you received a faulty item and need to exchange it for the same item, visit our Returns Center to request a replacement. If you would like to exchange an item for a different one, please return the original item through our online Returns Center (you will be refunded your original purchase price once we receive the item) and place another order for the item you wish to purchase. You do not have to wait for us to receive the original item before placing the new order.

Please note that it takes us 3 to 5 business days to process returns once they arrive at our Returns Center. You can view completed returns and refunds by visiting Your Account and accessing the relevant order summary.

I can't answer your question about exchange but I can offer you some guidence that may be helpful???

We also purchased a DS lite for our daughter. I am almost certain that the directions stated that it must be charged initially for at least 3 hours and when the light on the top right goes out that means it is done charging. I haven't powered it up yet and it is now wrapped so I can't go back and re-read the directions but you may want to try that. Also, checking the charger where it is connected to the DS to make sure it is all the way plugged in, and try another electrical outlet to let it charge for three hours, and if all else fails read the directions to make sure there isn't somthing else that needs to be done. Good Luck.
