Experience upgrading a child ticket to an adult?

Does anyone have experience upgrading a child ticket to an adult for a child who has turned 10? We currently have a 7 day child ticket for my daughter that we bought a few years ago with the Canadian resident discount. We've gone a few times since we purchased it but we ended up buying new tickets each time because we needed more days so we just kept that ticket on file. My daughter is turning 10 in a few weeks but we won't get the chance to go until after she turns 10 (most likely next year). I know it’s been said in the past that we need to upgrade her ticket to an adult ticket before she can enter the park. I called today about doing that possibly over the phone since the Canadian resident deal is going on now but won't be for long and I was told we don't need to pay to upgrade her ticket that they will just do that for her at the gate (or guest services). I know phone cast members are often wrong so I'm wondering if anyone has ever heard of or experienced this? Since the ticket is a few years old now (from 2017 I think) and if we go during a time where there's no Canadian resident ticket deal and we have to pay to upgrade her, it could be the difference of a few hundred dollars!

Incorrect, sadly.
(The situation about which you were told is only for a child's ticket that has been partly used in the past when the child was still underage.)
But not done (at no charge) for a child's ticket that has never been activated.

You'll need to pay to upgrade that ticket. If it was one of the old no expiring tickets and she first used it as a child, it wouldn't be any cost to upgrade. But since it's not that situation, you'll pay the difference between that ticket and the price of the current ticket.

That's what I figured. Only issue is that it will most likely be several hundred dollars more than when I purchased her child ticket almost 3 years ago!

I have to do the same thing next year. It’s in the $150 range for us. A bummer for sure.

We got it when they first offered Canadian discount tickets in 2017 and we only paid $279 for a 7 day child's ticket!!! We bought different tickets the 2 times we went after that because we wanted to go for longer and I mistakenly thought it wouldn't be an issue to use that child ticket later on! :(

Woah that’s an awesome price. I paid $377.95 for 6 day PH from UT in 2016!
