I just returned from WDW and had a chance to see the Expedition Everest construction site.It is going to be HUGE!There were several buildings being built besides the actual mountain. In fact,it looked like an entire "village" was springing up.Does anyone know what all of these buildings will be?This attraction should really give Animal Kingdom a large boost.I think it may become one of the two or three signature attractions in all of WDW.Does anyone else think it will be that popular? It looks REALLY impressive. :D

Im not sure what those buildings are. We were there in Oct and I too think it is huge. I think it will be a big drawing card for WDW. As far as its operation is concerned, I think it runs on the same principle as Indy Jones ride in Disneyland. I hope it is a big hit for WDW and AK. Just one more reason to go to WDW(like I needed one)

I don't believe that it is the same principle as Indy in Disneyland. Indy in Disneyland can be compared to Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom. Indy and Dinosaur are both tracked rides with a vehicle that follows a programmed path. Sort of like a slot car.

Everest is supposed to be a roller coaster. No loops that I am aware of but I think it might be comparable to Rock-n-Rollercoaster over at the Studios (although I hope it is a bit longer ride).

Can't wait for it to open and get a chance to try it out!!!!

Expedition Everest is a roller coaster...

Expedition EVEREST: The Legend of the Forbidden Mountain will be the newest, tallest and fastest attraction at Disney's Animal Kingdom, as announced at the theme park's fifth-anniversary press event on April 22.
Located in Asia, the new high-speed train adventure will explore the legend of the yeti (known to some as the abominable snowman), an enormous creature that's said to live in the Himalayan Mountains and guard the route to Mount Everest.

The adventure begins when guests board an old mountain railway destined for the foot of the towering Mount Everest. The train rolls through thick bamboo forests, past thundering waterfalls, along a shimmering glacier field and climbs higher and higher through the snow-capped peaks.

Suddenly, the track ends in a gnarled mass of twisted metal. The thrills intensify as the train races both forward and backward through mountain caverns and icy canyons, careening down the mountain slopes as guests head for an inevitable face-to-face showdown with the giant yeti.

At nearly 200 feet in height, Expedition EVEREST will be the tallest mountain in Florida.
Expedition EVEREST will feature Disney's FASTPASS Service, and it's scheduled to open in 2006.

I haven't been over to that area of the park for some time now, but as a rough guess, the buildings are most likely what all the other themed areas have: restrooms, gift shop and probably a counter service restaurant

I saw it too, it looks like it's coming together nicely! I also can't wait to ride it and am very happy they have a big thrill ride they can add to this park because I think it is a totally underrated park and gets the short shrift by a lot of people. There are so many neat exhibits and wonderful things going on in this park, people would do well to take a look! :)

I heard the timeframe for an opening is late 2005 to early 2006...does any1 know anything more specific?

I heard April of 2006. Somewhere around the AK's anniversary date of the 22nd I believe.

It's probably gonna be the MOAGS.

Mother of all Gift Shops...

isnt't that Norway?

you walk through like 5 gift shops just to get out of Maelstrom

If AK stays true to form, the openning will probably be Earth Day 2006 (April 22nd). This is when they openned and when other attractions openned. Just my guess, but see a pattern.

ROTFLMAO

I'm kind of nervous about the going backwards thing. I've never been on a roller coaster that goes backwards. I love all of the coasters in WDW especially RnRC so I know that I will try it and probably love it but I'm just a tidbit apprehensive. I can't wait until it's complete though. Oh and puggymom your babies are so cute!

You will probably love it. We have a wooden roller coaster near where I live (at Carowinds) and on one track the car goes forward and the other goes backwards. We always ride the backwards one!

Oh my goodness, I can't wait! It sounds like an exciting ride and I think it will be great for AK! People sure don't give AK much of a chance. Hopefully this will help turn some heads and get more people to notice AK and see how great it really is!

I plan on being the FIRST one to ride! Or second at least.

Puggymom - Those babies are TOO cute!

I can't wait for EE! More Coasters!

A show I saw on DL Paris said BTMRR goes forwards & backwards there.... I don't love backwards loops (ie. Boomerang) but I'll try it at least once!

This ride sounds incredible!
