I admit I don't spend that much time on this board because I am so familiar with most of the rides at WDW. Since Expedition Everest is new I have never been on it. I am going to WDW in 12/07 so I am seeking some expert advice. I am not really a serious roller coaster rider but I do enjoy space mountain, splash mountain,Big Thunder Railroad, and RNRC. Will I be able to enjoy Expedition Everest or will it be do extreme for someone who doesn't love all roller coasters? What ride would you compare it to?
Thanks!!!!!!
:)

Its like a not-so-distant "cousin" of BTMRR.
But its actually MUCH SMOOTHER.

The section where the ride goes "backwards" is rather exhilarating.

The BIG DROP (that you can see from the outside of the mountain) actually feels not as "intense" as the big drop on Splash.

EE, to me, is a spectacular Disney WINNER!
Great fun, without too much "intensity" to make many riders feel ill effects.

There are MANY times that, when the ride concludes, everyone on-board breaks into APPLAUSE!

(Oh, and then there's the YETI... )

:goodvibes

It is a much milder coaster than lets say "Rockin Roller Coaster" but it is a mild version of Thunder. It s very fun and there are a lot of cool surprises on it. It is a great Disney Roller Coaster.

I agree with the OP's. It's pretty smooth and much like BTMR. If you like that, you'll love EE! The ride is great and my kids (13 and 11 at the time) thought it was awesome, too! They rode it 4 times in a row!:thumbsup2 A definite "must do!"

Robo summed it up perfectly. My first reaction after the ride was "Wow, Disney sure did this one right!" It is a very smooth ride, and different from anything else there -- but based on the rides you do like, you'll be fine on this one.

Thank you so much for the information. I can't wait to try EE in 12/07.
Thanks again!!!!!!:)

Expedition Everest is AWESOME! And the previous person was right...people do break out into applause afterwards a lot of times! It is soooo much fun, and full of surprises. I especially love the backwards part.

If your 4 and 7 year olds are brave (and meet the height requirement), they'll probably like it. I myself wasn't into roller coasters until I was older, so it wouldn't have been for me at that age (of course...Pirates of the Caribbean was too much for me at that age!) but I love it now!

I also would like to point out that the theaming is so good on EE you have things to look at and keep your attention then a standard rollercoaster.

Great coaster ride, special to this ride is the backwards ride, that is the best sensation.

My 7 year old is 52 inches so no problem there but my now 3 year old (will turn 4 while we are at DW) is 42" . I don't think she would go anyway but my 7 year old LOVES: Test Track, BTMR. Hasn't ridden TOT and says he won't. Do you think EE is more like the 2 he LOVES and would ride ALL day?

Much closer to BTM than TT.

But who can TELL what a 7 yo will or won't like?

(Or a 27 yo, for that matter.)

EE is a very popular attraction.

I went on it for my first time (I'm NOT a roller coaster person) but I LOVED it! It was very smooth, a little rough on a few of the turns if you sit in the left seat though. I really great ride, I rode it more then once too ;)

Expedition Everest is not nearly as intense as RnRC. If a seven year old is interested in thrill rides, then I would say EE is perfect choice.

So what is everyone's "plan of attack" at AK now that Everest is there? I have not been there since it was open. We use to make a bee line to the safari ride. I was thinking of making a bee line to everest and getting a fast pass, then getting over to the safari ride. What do you all suggest?

Get an early ressie at Donald's Breakfastsaurus, then be at rope drop deep in the park. Go straight to EE and ride several times before the crowd hits. Grab a FF and come back later for one more.

My son was 6 when we went last June. He rode TOT (hated it), RNR (loved it but wouldn't ride it again), BTM (in first seat, loved it), Splash Mountain (had to bribe to get on but once on, loved it). When we made it to AK, he went through the line for EE and chickened out at the last minute. I rode it alone and it was awesome! Now he regrets not riding it and is begging me to go back "just for one day so I can ride the yeti"!:lmao: Being the good mother that I am, I'm taking him on a surprise trip in October. We'll only be at WDW for one day and guess what park we are going to?

The backward part is definitely the best..... woowwwww you feel you are out of breath... I like to scream the whole ride but not a single noise came out of my mouth.... it is great....
