Just got back from Animal Kingdom a few minutes ago, it was our first time to ride Expedition Everest and I thought I'd give my 2 cents, as well as a timeline for those that are about to get here. We got to Animal Kingdom a few minutes after opening this morning and went right to EE. I was expecting a mad rush like we saw at EPCOT the morning before for Soarin'. Fortunately for us, it was a quick 5 minute wait for EE. We also got fast passes before we got on the first time, but the wait was so short that we rode it 3 times in a row with little to no wait.

As for the line, I was expecting a typical disney line that wraps in and out of small buildings, but this line actually is short, even when the whole line is full. It is a very efficient ride at moving large amounts of people.

As for the ride, we loved it. I'd rank it higher than Splash Mountain/Thunder Mountain/Space Mountain, but lower than RnR. Overall it is a great ride.

Like I said, we basically walked on 3 times in a row before we headed over for the Safari, the fastpasses were gone by 2:30 or so this afternoon, but peak wait time only got up to about 40 minutes and that wasn't until about 4:00pm.

Anyhow, we're headed over to downtown disney, if anyone has any specific questions, boardmail me and I'll try to get back to you.

HI , did you see some character statues or hear lots of cute music along the ride? (like Splash mountain )

Thanks for your review! I can't wait to ride this is September! It looks like a lot of fun! :cheer2:

I don't remember any cute music. This is a great adventure type ride with a solid heavy feel to it. The track, the cars, the queue, etc all have a gravitas to it. It's hard to explain but it is intense and a tonne of fun.

Dh and I did not like the backwards part. other than that it was really cool.

I rode it for the first time last Saturday and again last Monday. It kind of reminds you of Big Thunder Mountain. Definitely not Splash Mountain cute. On Saturday, the lines were huge shortly after opening. There was even a big line getting into the parking lot. Fastpasses were gone by noon. On Monday, we went for early entry, we got a fastpass for 9:10 at about 8:15. It was an awesome ride, I'd rate it even with RnR, better than Splash, Space or Big Thunder.

Sounds great! I cannot wait to ride it!

we went end of april and it was a mad dash for ee. we got fastpasses and then waited about ten minuted in stand by, went on again stand by, and then used our fast passes. got on three times in less than an hour. great ride. i would rate it ahead of space and btmrr, but behind rnr.

OK. I don't want to spoil my trip report which will be coming at some point, but I just have to tell you about my experience on Expedition Everest. I am not a huge thrill ride fan, as I had a bad experience on the Zipper when I was a teenager (I mentioned this in another post). Anyway, I decided that when I went to Disney, I was NOT going to be a wuss. I was going to have fun. I was going to go on the rides with my husband & daughter. The rides are safe. How bad can it be?

First park we went to was Animal Kingdom. First ride of course had to be Expedition Everest to beat the crowds. As we stood in line, my husband covered my eyes as we walked past the warning signs (you know "good idea to skip this one if you are susceptible to motion sickness" idea). He mumbled something about, "you don't need to read no stinking signs. The lawyers made them put them up just to cover their butts." I kept going, knowing that if I could conquer Everest, I could conquer anything. Well, I rode Expedition Everest. I did it! :cool1:

What I forgot was that some people die on Mount Everest, and some people like me get sick on Expedition Everest! :rolleyes2 The ride itself was cool, and if you don't have a weak stomach then do it. But if you're not sure, work yourself up to this one, or pass on it all together.

I was sick. :sad2: I was sick again. I talked to Ralph on the Big Phone several times actually. :crazy2: We went over to the Safari as I heard the animals were livelier in the morning & the lines weren't as long as later in the day. Luckily I had a plastic bag in my back pack as I needed it. (I did not want them to have to stop & clean out the ride while others waited in line to get on. I just tied my bag & tossed it in the trash). Anyway, probably way too many details for some of you. It was several hours before I was feeling 100% again.

Just wanted to say, it is a good ride, but not if you've just eaten or have a tendency to get sick on rides like this. :worried:

After this, I decided to pass on Mission: Space; Rockin' Roller Coaster; Tower of Terror; and Space Mountain. So, I can't say how they compare. We did enjoy Cinderella's Golden Carousel, Splash Mountain and Test Track, but I guess those are just sissy rides aren’t they??

thanks for the info cant wait to ride it

We rode EE in Jan. for the DVC preview and I really did like it. That said, I did ride it three times in a row which was a mistake for me. I do tend to get car sick if I sit in the back seat. The first time was just great, lots of fun, but by the third ride I was dizzy. It was the backwards part that got me. We are going again in June and I will ride again but only once. :teeth:

So three seems to be the magic number in regards to EE :thumbsup2 . I also rode it 3 timed over the week after Easter. We had one of the members of our party obtain fastpasses and while he did that, we waited in line at the Safari for him. After the Safari and Pagnani trail, we ran to EE and jumped in the fastpass line. Because not everyone in our party wanted to ride it and was not using their fastpasses, we rode it a second time right after. Then we noticed the single rider line was short and jumped in that. While in the single rider line, we noticed that the front of the ride line was even shorter and jumped in that line. So we were also able to ride three time in a row! What a way to wake up in the morning!

Since this is an EE thread, someone please help me out here. It's my understanding that the Yeti doesn't come out on every ride. If so, what's the best way to see him? Would I need to ride over and over again and hope for the best? TIA

I just rode t for the 1st time April 28th! The Yeti was visable at the end of the ride along w some moving shadows during the middle of the ride.

Did anyone else noticed the drop in temperature as you entered the top of Mt. Everest?
