Expedition Everest Construction - 01.30.2005

After seeing in the Orlando Sentinel last week that they had topped Everest, we decided it was time for some more construction pictures so we took a day trip to Animal Kingdom...

We got some new pics of the Expedition Everest construction... 70 in all...

The "village" at the bottom of the mountain that will serve as the queue area is coming along nicely...

Thanks for the update. The pictures don't seem to be much further along than when we were there in Dec. but I was amazed to see them working on Sunday then so I know they're working hard at it. Here's hoping it will be open in Dec 2005. I already love AK and now there will be a totally cool ride.

I haven't been since Oct, although I rode by last week and saw the cap on the top. It is really starting to take shape, and some of those tracks look like they will be pretty thrilling. Counting the days until it opens!

Great pics! Thanks! Do you think it will be open by the end of May '06? DH doesn't want to go back until he can ride this ride so we are skipping a trip this year.

our pleasure... glad all of you liked the pics...

a castmember posting on RADP said that the projected opening was still Spring 2006... it seems they have encountered some delays in getting construction materials...

the entire Florida construction industry, including state road projects, are having issues with delays on delivery of construction materials...

A lot of construction sites around the US are having difficulty getting materials in on time, mainly because a lot of materials are being sent to Iraq. I know our school renovation is months behind because it couldn't get the steel beams on schedule.

Great photos! I think this new attraction is going to be stunning - especially when viewed from across the waterway.

Thanks Min and Bill! I hadn't seen pictures so close. I didn't realize you could walk right beside it! I can't wait to see it in person when we go in May and hopefully it will be open for our return trip next spring! I just hope I don't chicken out!!
