Expedia doesn't count toward Loews first.

Hello

Got back last week from Hard Rock Hotel and just wanted
to give everyone a heads up that uses Expedia. We went 2 years
ago in Nov and booked with Expedia for the HRH. Had
no problem getting my Loews first gift and a room upgrade. This
time they refused to give me both since I booked with Expedia.
My room rate was a little more then the special Loews rate that
is running now.

Has any one been able to get the special rate, every day I checked it wasn't available. Also the bellhop said hotel is 1/3
full durring the week, but sells out on the weekend.

It did seem that our room had gone down hill since 2 years ago.
Maybe because we had a great view 2 years ago, and this time
a view of the parking lot.

But I will say for the most part everyone at the HRH was very
nice.

Hi Jack, welcome to the DIS!

Good heads-up on booking with Expedia - actually, they no longer give any of the Loews first perks unless you book at rack rate or AAA (I think I heard AAA was still good) - my last stays at Ent, Fan and AP rates didn't even count towards my # of stays per year when they figure first, gold, etc status. Oh well, I'd rather pay the discount rate than get the perks if I have to choose (but I still think that any stay should apply toward your Loew's status)! We'll be back at the HRH in January - so far we've encountered nothing but super nice people (employees) when we've stayed!:smooth:

These folks are pretty inconsistent. When I booked through Hotel Kingdom, I got the same song about no Loews First welcome gift. However, my stay did count towards my # of stays and got me Gold status.

We just stayed at the RPR with an AP rate, and I didn't even have to ask for our welcome gift. It was offered to us, and we even got to pick the brand of beer we wanted.

I stayed at the RPR this past July with the FAN rate. I was surprised to receive my Loew's Gold card a couple weeks later. I guess they sometimes count the discounted rates for Loew's status changes.

I just tried to book the AAA discount online thru the Loews site for the RPR. The price was $159 but when I also put in my Loews card number with the AAA discount, the price jumped to $209. So I guess I won't be getting any Loew's benefits by getting the AAA discount. I'll go out an buy my own bottle of wine for that amount of money. I took the Loew's number out and booked the reservation without it.

Bonnie, the AAA rate is eligible for Loews perks. Call and have your Loews # added to your ressie.

And, if you're Gold or Platinum, the only way to receive your free upgrades is to call them directly. You can't book these online.

As soon as I get my confirmation, I will call and add my Loews number. I didn't book the original reservation online cause after I put in all my info it said something like no availability. I called and got the same internet price with availability.
