Expanded Panama Canal- larger Disney ships

We are on the EBPC this fall (last cruise before dry dock) and our understanding is the Wonder will go through the old locks on this cruise - this will be the last time. Reports seem to indicate that the dry dock will add the ducktail and after that she won't fit through the old locks.

Are we sure about the ducktail? They added it to the Magic because of the Aquadunk. I haven't seen anything to indicate they are adding anything like that to the Wonder. My guess is that they are not adding a new slide so they don't need to add the ducktail.

Even without adding the slide the ducktail seems likely. It is commonplace on newer ships. It's a bit technical, but it increases the waterline which in turn reduces resistance (fuel savings.) It also adds buoyancy which balances additional weight. Regulations have changed over the last decade or so requiring a host of additional equipment to ships. The ducktail balances that additional mass.
The Wonder might not get it but I would be surprised if they didn't add it now during such an extensive dry dock. The wait in opening of the new locks kept DCL from doing it for this long, I suspect, because they needed one ship to get to the west coast. If they didn't intend to add it the Wonder would probably have been refurbed at least a year ago.

A server last week told me that they are getting a ducktail, they are not getting an Aquadunk/duck, and are expanding the Mickey slide, Take that for what its worth, he seemed pretty confident but I don't know how much the servers are 'in the know' with these types of things.
