Exiting after Wishes

Hello! The only day we can see Wishes during our trip will be Dec. 19. I did make reservations for the dessert party. The fireworks are at 10:00. Does anyone have any idea how long it will take to get back to CSR after that? We will be taking the bus. The crowd level is a 10 according to TP. I ask because we will be getting up super early the next day for our flight home TIA!

A normal bus ride back to car is probably 15 minutes once on the bus . But if you leave after Wishes you will be exiting with the massive herd, I would plan on with the walk out of the park and wait for a bus 45-60 minutes. It might be quicker but I always for a longer amount of time.

Simply find a place to sit down in MK and let the exiting crowd thin for about 30-45 minutes.

Then, stroll out to the buses.

It might not even take much longer in time, but it will save you a LOT in pushing through the crowds.

or walk to Contemporary and get a Mears or Uber back to CBR. Getting a cab at Disney is like being wisked away by an angel. Maybe an angel with a jamaican accent who is listening to reggae, but an angel none the less.

One other thought that worked well for us is to position yourself at the exiting end of Main Street where you can still have a wonderful view of Wishes (IMHO). When it ends, you simply turn around and exit--well ahead of the mass of humanity that will soon follow. This will put you in great position to make sure you get on the first bus that comes for your resort (with a seat, no less!). Of course, this option minimizes/eliminates the time you have to soak in the ambience and afterglow of the moment. So, again, it's about priorities. If it were my last night in Disney, I would hang on and stay through the absolute final moment of magic--suffer the short night, fly tired, and recover after you get home.

Sorry, but that is NOT correct for MK.

There are no cabs that service the MK gates.

Regular cab drop-off and pick-up for MK is located at the TTC.
But, as mentioned above, the guest can walk to the Contemporary Resort and
take a cab from there.

Except that you can't get a cab/uber directly from MK. One has to go to the Contemporary or the TTC to use those alternate means of transportation.

That needs to be tempered with what very often actually happens.
There will be hundreds (if not thousands) of guests who will be streaming out of MK DURING the fireworks show.
They will be disruptive to guests near the exit end of Main St. and will be filling the routes out of MK even before Wishes has concluded.

And (very important to our party) the LIGHTS of main St. are left ON during Wishes at south end of Main St.
(The last several buildings on the street and at the Train Station.)
A fireworks show with bight lights shining in my field of vision is not a great way to try to see the show.

This has me laughing because it is the single most irritating and hated thing I have about WDW and Magic Kingdom.
I love Wishes but getting out of there is a freakin' nightmare. It takes about 3 hours

No matter what mode of transportation, you're there til the end of days.

I'm kidding, of course. But it does take forever. And a day. It's massive crowds all pressing on you and trying to get out at the same time. Highly unpleasant. It practically ruins the show for me because I anticipate the crapshow to get out of there. Not to mention, it's the end of a loooong, hot day. Everyone is tired. I have witnessed some craziness and ugly behavior during the exit. Kids melting down, parents at the end of their rope and just as bad as the kids. No thank you.

Because it bugs me so much, we've changed to NOT watching it from Magic Kingdom. Poly is the place to be!!

Thank you for all of your help. We will be watching Wishes from Plaza Gardens with the dessert party package. I know it is overpriced for what it is, but we have never had a good view of Wishes and that is on my bucket list! I could not decide between the dessert party or watching from Poly or TTC. The deciding factor for me was that I have never seen the projection show with a good view. I can never see what is going on. People have always been in our way. So, as of now we are going to pay too much money for a good view. (Hopefully it will be a good view!!) I think we will just hang back for a while and let the madness clear.

Just hang and watch the chaos. Bring some plastic freezer bags and load up at the dp. They will let you. Then sit back and eat treats and wait for the water to recede.

I always sit and wait for about 15 minutes then it is easy sailing out the exit and onto a bus.
